Penn State guard Izaiah Brockington re-entered the NCAA transfer portal Thursday morning, sources told 247Sports. As a junior during the Nittany Lions' 2020-21 season, Brockington averaged 12.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 29.7 minutes over 25 games (24 starts).

The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder initially made a portal entry March 16. He ended up withdrawing his name after a "good talk" with Micah Shrewsberry, the new PSU head coach.

If my math is correct, that leaves the Nittany Lions with eight scholarship players currently on the roster for next season - fun!

8 is actually not that bad comparing to Crean's UGA. He's got an uphill battle.

I don't see Brooks ending up at IU. We have a full roster and I don't think CMW is the kind of person who forces someone out after convincing them to stay. If he does, then I have misjudged him. Someone will have to seek another opportunity on their own for there to be a spot.

Yeah.  I cant see that happening

He wouldn't force someone out if he convinced that particular person to stay...but we don't know if he convinced everyone to stay...With new coaches coming and going players are advised to go elsewhere all the time. This is nothing new.

Doesn't seem like the 'family' atmosphere he has said he wants to create. I get that's the way it is most of the time. I just don't see that as something CMW can do and create the type of trust he is talking about. Just doesn't fit the narrative.

Maybe the roster is completely set...but how do we know the roster is completely set? How do we know CMW is recruiting "everyone" to stay? Listen, I don't have the slightest idea if Brooks is coming or going or entering the NBA draft....What I do know for sure is who is coming back to Indiana --based on player's social media post announcements-- which will make for an incredibly fun year....I'm also for advising someone to go elsewhere to play more minutes (if they weren't recruited to stay) if it means bettering the program.

I'm not saying that someone won't choose to go somewhere else to find more playing time. What I was saying is that CMW can't recommend that to a kid who wants to be here and establish the kind of culture he said he would have. Wanting a family atmosphere and developing trust are not compatible with encouraging kids to leave. We can't have it both ways.
