WayneFleekHoosier Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Marquette / FSU. Blowout wins are so few and far between in the big ten (especially for offensively challenged teams). Just need W's. The passion and depth shown tonight is reason for optimism, imo, not sadness and gloom. Hopefully next game we'll see a similar performance. 7-5 and 2-3 in B1G if I’m not mistaken. Sure we played better, harder, smarter than normal this game. We still lost a game we were in position to win. At some point we need to rattle off some wins. My fandom is enthusiasm/optimism to settling to despair. Rinse and repeat cycle. We are a fanbase of moral victories. It’s quite sad. Again, if I had any confidence in our coach and program it would be easier to roll with the punches but this is the same movie we see every year. I'm trying to remember the last time we played a Big Ten team and just had our way with them. Just about every game in the Archie Miller era has been a slow, painful grind. I don't think Crean's teams ever had to work this hard to win. Quote

All I’m saying is that the coaching and effort looked very solid tonight, which gives me reason for optimism. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER and MoyeNeeded 2 Quote
Hoosierfan2017 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Tonight was the first IU game I’ve actually enjoyed watching fur a while, but at some point these close losses need to turn into wins. We have a helluva schedule from here on out. pumpfake, thebigweave, Loaded Chicken Sandwich and 1 other 4 Quote
yogisballin Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 I admire the effort tonight. When IU got down 25-13, they could’ve packed it in right there. They fought back into the game. I’m just tired of not getting over the humpAt that point I said oh ****, we’re going to get blown out tonight. I think Leal shown tonight that he’s valuable to the team. Like someone else said, he played like he belonged out there. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Trish Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 MAN I LOVED OUR EFFORT LAST TIME! Yes, the all freshman lineup was risky but at some point it was bound to happen. We're a very young roster and not very deep as we all know. LOVED LEAL's effort tonight. He got his shot to fall and his defense looked much more college level. Offense was solid, I thought we moved the ball from side to side a little more than we're use to tonight which was key. We had our shots to put the game away in both overtimes and regulation. I know we're not use to playing no more than 31 total minutes but I liked our effort for 50+ minutes tonight. GO HOOSIERS! HoosierAloha, jk34, pumpfake and 1 other 4 Quote
Bowhunter Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Proud of the whole team. We played hard but the officials were just to much to overcome. The fouls discrepancy tells it all. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
NashvilleHoosier Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 What makes this one such a gut punch is that we've put ourselves in the position to need that win so badly. This game in its own context....I can totally handle that effort, losing to a top 10 team on the road in double OT without Franklin. I can handle it even more in the context of a season where we closed out the home win against NW and stole one on the road against FSU or Illinois. Still a lot to build off of from that game, but damn that was a heartbreaker. Quote

Popular Post IUc2016 Posted January 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2021 Most of last year IU was getting blown out on the road to top teams in the BIG. Like 25-30 point drubbings, including at Wisconsin. They are now competing and giving themselves chances to win against top teams. In all three road games this year against ranked teams IU has had a lead late in the second half. That is progress. It is not where we want to be especially in year 4, it really isn't. But I will give credit where it is due because it is certainly progress. And if that progress continues, there will be less nights where we are pissed we gave up the lead and more nights where we are happy because the boys pulled it out. Keep working boys. On to the next. craigyv88, tkbbn, Bobman1 and 5 others 8 Quote

How many times have we been just one stop away from stealing a huge win, and we just can't get it? Quote

yogisballin Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Bardo is extremely annoying at times but I believe he’s spot on with Rob Phinesse. Most of the time, I just want him to put his ******* head down and get to the rim!! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierDYT 1 Quote
OldBuddy67 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Trice! I'm nitpicking because he killed us last night but am I alone in finding it ridiculous that he is 24 and will be 25 in May? I know he's had some circumstances that have lead to him being in college still but come on?!? Only Wisconsin........ HoosierDYT 1 Quote

TheWatShot Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Don't mind me, just venting for a minute. We could be 9-3 right now, with a top 10 SOS. But we aren't. Quote

I wish he'd drive and dribble with his head up, looking at what's happening around him on the court. When he decides he's going to drive to the rim, he puts his head down as a tell...he ain't gonna pass it or he's gonna stop dribbling with no idea where the ball's going to go next Quote
