TJD played against a guy who might make it in the NBA and got eaten alive. Imagine what real NBA players would do to him.   

Obviously it's up to him on whether or not he returns next year, but if he goes, he got bad advice. 

 

He’s not an nba player at this point. Just isn’t. No right hand, no jumpshot, limited post moves, poor passer, undersized. If he was 7 foot he might have a chance, but its honestly shocking he produces as well as he does with his skill set and size. Will not work in the NBA.

Not surprised. IU almost always has a chance to win. They just hardly ever finish the job. Just over it

And it seems to be the “little things” that kills them. Own players fighting over a rebound. A missed assignment on an inbounds play. Bouncing the ball off your knee bringing the ball up court. Missed FTs. Missed make-able layups. Missed wide open 3’s on good sets. Failing to identify where the opponent’s best player is and that player draining a 3.

Hunter looks completely lost and in his head. Those missed layups he had today..
Rob had a few good minutes. That’s about it though. His defense was solid like always. 
 
Trey was great. He’s going to be great role player for us.
Trayce disappeared again..weird how that keeps happening... stop blaming your teammates and prove you’re an NBA player perhaps? 
 
Race struggled.
Al was Al. 
 
We could’ve used Joey for his size in terms of mass. Jordan came in and provided a couple possessioNs and 3s. 
 
Love the offense. We are getting lots of great looks, the ball screens are the most I’ve seen under Archie. Players have to finish the plays and our all American has to show up.

Hunter wasn’t even close on those layups and he’s lost on D.
Rob had 2 or 3 excellent looks at a 3 and failed to make any.
Jordan, like Lander, probably could bring upside with more playing time.
Ultimately, like you said, players are put in position and simply need to finish

Worst part of this loss for me is that I'm not mad because this is what I expect every game. Apathy.

I've not heard him discussed as a potential NBA prospect anywhere outside of this board, and games like this are probably why.

The coach at Indiana is paid and expected to produce a top 25 team in the country.  At some point the excuses have to stop.  It’s a bottom line business and Archie isn’t holding up his end of the bargain.  
 

If players aren’t playing well, it’s your job as a coach to have reserves that can do what it takes to win basketball games. I’m sick and tired of hearing all the excuses every single year.

Being that USPS is not one to give bad info and that he's from same town as TJD I'll take his word when he says TJD is almost certainly gone after this year. Our opinions don't matter so I'm going on the assumption this is his last year.

And every single game. If the excuse makers were paying his salary I'd bet the excuses would cease.

It's hard to see this team winning enough games to make the NCAA tournament. The good news is if any NBA scouts were watching the game, it is not likely they will want to draft TJD. He is a good college player but against possible NBA level competition he can barely get off a decent shot. And he still can't shoot from farther out than 5 feet.

Second game in a row for me where I turned it off with about five minutes left on the clock and just watched the statline online.

Armaan Franklin can be a special player.  And we're wasting that development right now.  

Al Durham is not a point guard but is playing there because Phinissee has been so bad.  Durham is more suited as a shooting guard getting 15 to 20 minutes per game where he hits some occasional shots.

Lander isn't physically ready.

Is there any word on whether Stewart is going to play this year or will he wait until next?  A part of me would prefer he wait until next year until he gets acclimated.  Also have a feeling that if Archie isn't here next year, we could use a guy to stick around for a couple of years as we transition.

As has been said, you can't fire the players.  It's not a choice of getting a new team or a new coach.

I hope scouts were at the game because it would also mean we wouldn't have to face Dosunmu next year.

I'm curious who he's talked to, and if any of them read this board. It gets mentioned here multiple times a day. Anyone could read that and easily become convinced it will happen.

We have youth but we have a senior guard who has a ton of experience and is a captain. A junior guard also with a ton of expertise. Race does not have the game experience but has been with the program for such a long time. Hunter has been around a ton as well and even though he could not play a lot he brings experience with the program and should be more reliable. 
 

Even our primary youth are sophomores and played a lot last year.

Par for the course. We make the game ugly on defense but just not enough offense for various reasons. We have one good guard in Franklin.  Lander isn’t ready and we really needed him to be. Al, Rob And Hunter stink.

It’s the business of coaching. At the end of the day, the players decide how long the coach will be at a school. Our players are given every opportunity to win here at Indiana. I wouldn’t say it’s an excuse when players are missing point blank layups and your all American acts like he doesn’t want to be there. It’s basketball.
