Uspshoosier Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Indiana assistant Ed Schilling is looking for new opportunities in basketball and will be moving on, sources tell Peegs.com. #iubb Jeff Rabjohns 8bucks 1 Quote
raorIU Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Hmm ... mutual, didn't bring in the recruits, or couldn't work with the other staff? Quote
VO5 Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I’m fine with this. We need an offensive minded coach badly. Interested to see who Archie brings in, especially this late in the game. lillurk and JaybobHoosier 2 Quote

After Brooks went to pUKe he lost all luster, and didn't really see the offensive development from players that I thought would come with that hire. VO5, ElectricBoogaloo and thebigweave 3 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Timing not the best; Michael Lewis could have been available. What's the consensus? Will Archie attempt to bring in an IU guy or pass? Quote

Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted June 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2019 This is way less than ideal. I know half of the crowd will see this as a positive and half as negative. Schilling is respected around the state. There is no denying that. Archie or someone selected him for a reason. I realize many will find a silver lining here and maybe a negative can be turned into a positive but this is another flag imo. WayneFleekHoosier Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Idk about you but I’d hire World Wide Wes or some other bagman. LoL. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners VO5, Deserthoozier, MikeRoberts and 2 others 5 Quote
AKHoosier Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Someone on this board or another called this a while ago, and said it would be addition by subtraction. I don't know what to think, but more inclined to see this as a negative. He had great ties around the state, but if he couldn't get along with the staff or whatever, then maybe this outcome is best. Assistant coaches are probably overrated anyway. Quote
JSHoosier Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I liked that he had ties to the state, not real bothered otherwise. Wish Lewis was still available. Hope we replace him with an IU guy or someone with ties for in state recruiting. JaybobHoosier 1 Quote
ap2345 Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 This was either Ed’s choice or something has happened recently that caused this to happen. This isn’t the time of year for a head coach to shake up the staff.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Old Friend Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Ed Schilling may have ties to the state, but they're waning the further away he gets from his camps, and I have not been sold on ANY of the assistant coaches from a basketball standpoint. Can he take Bruiser with him? Surely an IU guy can stand with his hands in his pockets and look away from the huddle. Stuhoo, HinnyHoosier, MoyeNeeded and 1 other 1 1 2 Quote

Timing makes it look less than mutual and more like Schilling wanted off a sinking ship. He probably was trying to find a coaching job for better optics and couldn’t get it. Then again Schilling wasn’t the guy on Romeo when Romeo said that IU started to lead. And without getting Brooks. Gotta wonder. He has connections but with two years in state Ostrom and Archie have them now as well Our guard development outside of Al has been trash so gotta wonder how invested Ed was since that was supposed to be his forte. UCLA fans weren’t exactly upset when he left although look what happened to the bruins Need to hire a former player that can teach shooting. ElectricBoogaloo and MoyeNeeded 2 Quote

Honestly I am guessing he got forced out. As a coach quitting right at the end of June is a bad move. There are no jobs open. Plus it’s crazy timing from a recruiting standpoint. Wonder if we have another Kyrie Irving moment honestly. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app thebigweave 1 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Tom Crean could really fix our broken offense. Edit We really just need a good shooting coach if we could have hit just 35% of our 3s our offense would have been fine. lillurk 1 Quote
