Just FYI, I'm not getting into a back-and-forth internet fight here.  Make your point if you wish.  The Draft Express attention Clifton received wasn't for his talent now.  It's because he has the build that everyone wants.  Thrives in the small ball, can switch and guard multiple positions, spread the floor.  3 point shots are up because they work.  Traditional use of back-to-the-basket centers is down.

Let the kid develop.  He was never a player expected to contribute his freshman year.

Couldn't agree more. The kid had limited AAU exposure and didn't play high-level high school ball. I still have faith he'll be a key piece in the future. As Archie said, he needs to learn the game and build his bball IQ and part of that is learning the pace of high-level D1 hoops and adjusting to the talent level. I like that he can play on the perimeter and hit jumpers and I'm glad he's a Hoosier.

I'm pretty sure I read over the summer that Archie wanted to red-shirt him, but he wouldn't come if he did. I wouldn't classify him at all as a reach, but more just a player who needs some time to develop.

I wonder why this year we can’t hit free throws or 3 pointers. Could it be spending a lot of time on the defense in practices ?? I’m just trying to figure out why we’re not confident when it comes to shooting

Because we don't have great shooters. It's really as simple as that. Over the last two years IU has lost Yogi, Biefeltd, Zeisloft, JBJ, Bryant, etc. Those guys were good to great shooters.

Our two best shooters now are RoJo (very streaky) and Hartman (often injured). Green and Newkirk are also streaky, Durham and Morgan aren't good shooters, etc.

It's just a talent issue.

Edit: I'm referring to the 3-pt shooting, not as much free throw shooting.

Based on comments from players and coaches on the practices, it's mostly focused on defense. Makes sense to me. Shooting and free throws is something that requires almost coaching (unless your shot needs modification) which they should be doing on their own. I wonder if they team just isn't spending enough time shooting on their own. You don't need to be a good shooter to make free throws at a respectable clip.

Call me crazy but I think this team is solid defensively. They rarely gave up easy shots last night and forced Duke to hit shots with hands in their faces. Their defensive ranking is thrown off by an Indiana State team that went crazy on them and it'll even out eventually. Duke hit shots, this team is the best defensive team since the final Oladipo year, also the smartest I'd say.

That's why Anderson will see minutes right away.

Ranked 200+ defensively isn't thrown off by one game

I'm aware, I'm saying they look better than I have seen in recent years, and I expect by years end their rank will more accurately reflect their effort and improvement. Even though Duke scored 91, they hit tough shots and a lot of points they scored in the first half were put backs, or offensive rebounds. 3 teams scored over 80 on them, that's not good, but if they continue to improve on defense, this will be a team you don't want to play in February or march. This team can make some noise.

We lost but I feel good about where this team is going and I think we have a shot at making the tournament. Davis absolutely dominated down low, but needs to his his free throws! Team still lacks outside shooting, something Hunter and Anderson should bring to the team next season...

Man I'd love to add Hunter to this current team, I'm really high on him.

This team is gonna hit its stride. It’s only a matter of time. It pained me that IU couldn’t close down the stretch. That game was right there to win. IU is gonna be just fine. That place was freakin lit. My passion for IU basketball returned last night

It would've helped if we could hit the easiest shot in the game.

Those four missed free throws at the end cost us a chance to win no question. I think we can make the ncaa but probably need to go 11-7 in conference. We need to win these first two and can.

Unfortunately, I don't think this team is "over the hump" just yet. We will still lose a few more games because of attitude, effort, and dumb play. It's definitely progressed from the first part of the season though.

I hope your wrong but at same time I agree with you. Team is growing, no doubt about that. That’s great to see as well. In crunch time (last 4-5 minutes) we had 4, maybe 5 to’s. On top of that no FG’s and well obviously the FT’s were killer. And foul trouble didn’t help.

Something I jumped out of my chair for last night. Early 2nd half (less than 2 mins into), after Als corner 3. Duke started 4-4 or 5-5 to begin the half. And Archie calls a TO
