mark1981 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I don't understand why adidas would funnel kids to one school over another. Because they have a corrupt rep at that school?Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
eljefe6 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 A coach that hasn't been mentioned yet, but I'm thinking will be: BRUCE PEARL! Already on the naughty list - now Auburn is in deep, deep, doo-doo on his watch. Pearl was a student assistant on the BC point shhaving team in 78-79. He learned earlySent from my SM-G920P using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

pumpfake Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 If the FBI uncovers records of payments to players, and these are substantial sums of money, won't those players be in jeopardy of being charged with tax evasion (or at least failure to report income)? Tom White 1 Quote
MoyeNeeded Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 It sounds like there were two distinct schemes the FBI investigated. The first one - that led to the indictment of the four assistant coaches - was a bribery scheme. Managers/agents bribed assistant coaches to push players into signing with those managers upon graduation. Not good at all, but not nearly as bad for the head coach/program, in my opinion. This is the Book Richardson/AZ situation. The second one was about funneling high school recruits into programs via payments from shoe company execs to recruits, apparently often with knowledge of or requested by college coaches. That's the Louisville situation. This one is brutally bad for head coach/school/program.You think they wont?Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk I hope so. Not NCAA sanctions, I mean literally the death penalty for the entire University. Is that wrong? Should I not feel that way? This is why no schools have been named from the investigation. No federal laws were broken by the schools. Several NCAA infractions though. Reports have been forwarded to the NCAA. Louisville will NOT escape the wrath. Do in part by their attitude towards the infractions committee during the hookergate scandal. I believe the hammer will drop on this one. I don't see UofL fighting this one, or they will have to fight the FBI investigation. That would be suicide. They would lose millions in alumni money.Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER, reconmkd and Stuhoo 3 Quote

ALASKA HOOSIER Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 The only thing that concerns me when it comes to IU being involved is..... The Kenny Johnson connection! HoosierTrav Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 I feel pretty good about our current staff. My only concern is that Ed Schilling is tied to Adidas and has recruited well the past few years. This is going to cause the landscape of CBB to be re-graded. Hopefully it levels the playing field. I'll be shocked if Calipari, Boeheim, and possibly Coach K, aren't tied to any of this. mamasa and thebigweave 2 Quote

No. Not in the real world. The resources and level of federal criminal behavior that is warranted to be actually charged is so, so much greater than most anybody outside of the process perceives. Is it technically possible? Sure. But that's usually where it ends. moyemayhem 1 Quote
Dalton26 Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 UofL has to completely clean house from maybe the president/AD down to the graduate assistants. They can’t just fire one person at this point. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Class of '66 Old Fart, thebigweave and ElectricBoogaloo 3 Quote

Popular Post jepwatso Posted September 26, 2017 Popular Post Posted September 26, 2017 Breaking news about ANOTHER player, INVOLVING IU: during the investigations, a past interaction has been reported. Legendary coach Bob Knight, desperate for size in the post in 1992-93, oversaw the transaction of $15,000 cash to the family of a highly-sought-after big man. That player? 6'8", 230lb Ivan Renko. When reached for comment, Coach Knight said "I'll be happy when you're dead". More to come... Jam, IUaic, HoosierAloha and 9 others 11 1 Quote
