I don't see that huge of an offensive gap. 6 points separate Miller and Bennett. 6 points, and Miller's strength of schedule is much worse than Bennett's. It would be interesting to compare the W-L record of Bennett when the game gets into the 80's versus others. I think that the aversion to TB is mostly about people who have watched very little UVA basketball OR who have just heard "games in the 50's" over and over again. 6 points = 2 possessions. I'd hope we don't hire Archie either. Beside the point. 6-7 pts per game is fairly significant. This article sums up why I don't think Bennett would be a good fit or lead us back to the top. http://www.crimsonquarry.com/2017/2/23/14684052/tony-bennett-virginia-indiana-coaching-rumors Quote

Not sure if that's something you were looking for, but it's amazing nonetheless. Maynard, HoosierTrav, HooHooHoo22 and 10 others 13 Quote
Adillac Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 What also is effecting my opinion on some of these guys is that I believe IU will pay stupid money for who they want, and that IU can do better with the risk ratio on this one. What gall! I know...I know.. Kepner 1 Quote

My issue with Bennett has been with UVA's last 2 NCAA losses to Cuse and Florida. They got behind and despite that, their offense had a lack of impetus to get the ball in the front court and get the offense moving quick enough to start a comeback. The defense also stayed in their regular shape and allowed the offense to take 20 seconds off the clock without any pressure or initiative to move the ball. In the case of the Syracuse game, I was yelling at my TV for them to get going and it seemed they had no clue as to the score and situation. His system will get us a lot of wins and likely B1G titles. I'm concerned about him being able to adapt to a tournament situation where you need a plan B or a 'survive and advance' mindset where theory sometimes has to play a secondary role. 323SGrant and schoosier 2 Quote

Their defense let them down just as much as their offense in the second half. They couldn't stop Richardson Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
Adillac Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I bet Crean had a great record when the opponent scored under 65 pts...but that didn't happen most of the time. Of the 271 games at Virginia, Bennett's teams have scored 70 or more points 101 times, correct? So 37% of the time they hit the magic number. Quote
