Popular Post Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 22, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 22, 2017 I was getting ready to ask if we could stop with all the Alford banter in this thread and try to keep it in his own thread and then I saw the following and felt it should be posted in a thread that so many are following. The letter is lenghty but it's written by Julie DiCaro a weekend host, update anchor for 670 The Score and a columnist for CBSChicago.com. Very courageous on her part. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/03/22/dicaro-an-open-letter-to-indiana-ad-fred-glass-regarding-steve-alford/ woodenshoemanHoosierfan, theriverpilot, LIHoosier and 10 others 13 Quote

ap2345 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 There is another flight coming in from Atlanta today. This one is a private jet service. So it is probably someone from the Parker Search Firm. ALASKA HOOSIER and Happydaze 2 Quote
Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 22, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 22, 2017 I think I hit my calm this morning. Nothing we can do but trust in Glass and hope. I think he genuinely wants a winning program. I'm just waiting now. If it's Alford, it's Alford because he thinks that's the guy. If it's Donovan, that's fantastic. I really wish he could pay Brad Stevens enough to entice him to come to IU because he fits every single criteria. It's really a shame we are too late to make it happen. Anyway, I'm at peace. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Now if he hires Fife I might come up out of my chair. But let's wait on that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners ALASKA HOOSIER, VO5, mdn82 and 8 others 11 Quote

Not kidding you. When I went to gather some intel on whether or not Crean's SUV was there I realized how huge the airport is. It was my first time driving by it and it is HUGE. Definitely how the 1% gets around. lol Why fly into Indy when you can get to your final destination without all the BS of normal airports? Quote
GoIU8 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Alford's tenure is the most successful period in New Mexico basketball history and they weren't upset to see him go. That should tell you all you need to know about him as a coach.Sent from my SM-G935T using BtownBanners mobile app lillurk and raorIU 2 Quote

uncle_t13 Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I don't know who on here is a student and who's not, but I can tell you that hiring Bennett is a great way to alienate the student body from everything I'm hearing on campus. None of us want to watch games that end in scores comparable to girls high school games, so as much as it sucks to say, a lot of us probably just won't come if we can only expect to put up 50 points a game. Not that this has any influence on the search, I'm just saying Glass better keep an eye on how the students are going to react if he plans on having them in Assembly next yearSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

I thought the point at the end of the day was to win games and go on deep tourney runs? You're telling me that students would rather see 96-91 losses than 66-60 wins?? Please. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not that terrible of a guy that he would work so hard to keep a guy he knew was a rapist out of jail to win basketball games. I think he went to bat for someone that he honestly believed in and got burned because he trusted the wrong person. He deserves criticism for the way he handled it, but imo saying "he defended a rapist" implies that he knew Pierre Pierce was guilty, didn't care, and still defended him. Maybe that really was what happened, but all the reports make it seem like he believed Pierce was innocent. Pierce was his stud (no pun intended) and his team would tank without him. Agree to disagree. Quote
