HoosierTrav Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I just got into a drawn out debate with Kent Sterling, as to why I think Fife would be the wrong hire. I didn't agree with him, and provided valid arguments, so naturally I'm a "loud uninformed clown." Funny that's coming from someone in the media. nerdvana, ALASKA HOOSIER and thebigweave 3 Quote
seihoosier Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Name a former alum who was a college all american or stud for his college team that returned to their alma mater and wasn't fire in 5 years? Roy W only played on the UNC JV team. Alford will not succeed. I'll gladly eat crow if he's hired and does extremely well. Just don't see it happening. Quote

If we get saddled with yet another mediocre hire, all because some big-wig insists on hiring his friend it will say an awful lot about the Athletic Department and our place in the college basketball world. sirhoosierlot 1 Quote

Brass Cannon Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I stayed for 9 years of Crean we hire Alford and I am raising my daughter to be a butler fan. JSHoosier Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 IU can't afford to screw this hire up, which of course means the administration look at a coach with worse resume than the guy they just fired. IUsafety 1 Quote

Trish Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 FWIW I just spoke to someone who is familiar with the Donovan family and such. As of this morning, no way is Billy interested in returning to college basketball. IUsafety, ALASKA HOOSIER and Tom White 3 Quote

It'd be cool to see him on the sideline. But it would also be cool to be in the final 4 again. Sent from my SM-G935P using BtownBanners mobile app This is known as a conundrum, and one that many IU fans are in these days. I wonder though, what if Alford were to win it all this year with UCLA, (not going to happen, but hey, for the sake of discussion), would those who are adamantly apposed to his being offered the job, relent? Personally, I'm indifferent on the subject. I just want to see us feared by the rest of the nation come tournament time. Whoever can accomplish that the fastest and with the most honor and integrity, gets my vote. Tom White 1 Quote
Popular Post Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted March 21, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 21, 2017 Listen the whole thing with the Alford and Pierce thing that no one surprisingly has mentioned was this, Pierce was accused of sexual assault. Alford defended him and even called the DA's office in Iowa and all of a sudden charges were reduced basically to nothing. Pierce gets suspended for a year with Stevie boy going to bat any chance he got. Then shortly after returning Pierce DOES it again and goes to jail!! Evey mentions on here like he went to jail for the one time. No that isnt the case. If it was it would be hard to forgive Alford but not impossible. The fact he went to bat for that kid, got him outta trouble and then Pierce went and ruined another girls life is disgusting to me!! If Alford would have shut his mouth Pierce goes to jail the first time and saves the next girl from the trauma. I sent an actual letter of this a few days ago to Glass when rumors first started and I am beyond upset they are coming back. MoyeNeeded Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Funny how things change in a day. By this time yesterday, there were posters on this board and others coming out of the woodwork with rumors about Billy Donovan being IU's new coach. Give me Bennett.. His teams play hard nosed basketball and you can tell they are very well coached with a game plan coming into every game. Unlike our most recent regime.37 points in a NCAA tournament game. Redandyz Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Wow. That's actually profound and sound advice. Iowa fans weren't sad to see SA leave and it appears the UCLA faithful feel similarly. What about Donovan? OKC people seem pretty indifferent about him as well. Not sure it always rings true.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Tom White, IUsafety and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote
