Agreed.  I don't want the next coach to have had an adj D lower than the top 50 in the last 3 years.  After watching CTC's teams play little to no defense the last 9 years, I want some semblance of fundamentals shown on the floor, especially on defense.

If you only want to look at his last 3 then the AdjD is trending up and the average is 56; that's this year and the two prior.  Last 3 full seasons, average of 77 with no trend.

This is a little off-topic, but I've seen Mike White's name thrown around as a possible candidate for the IU job.  While I think he's a fantastic young coach and would likely be an upgrade over CTC, is there any mention or possibillity of him being a replacement candidate when Coach K retires?  How keen is Duke on keeping a Coach K groomed coach as the HC (i.e. Collins, Capel, etc...) vs. an 'outsider'?  Reason I ask is I was just made aware that Mike White's dad is the current AD at Duke, Kevin White, and has been the AD there since 2008.

I'm sure there is subtle talk about having his son there if he continues to develop as a coach. We should continue to keep tabs on White. He seems young and promising for sure.

2 things here. First the admin that fired his sister is gone. Second, he said he wasnt ready for that big if a job at that point in his career. He has since excelled at Virginia and in my mind poised for a blueblood job.

Yeah it's not a matter of if with Bennett but when will he become a coach of a blue blood school. Hopefully it's here. I would be willing to wait 2 years for him (as long as he brought Guy with him as a grad transfer).

If we are talking current college coaches right now, I would say Bennett, Archie and Marshall in that order. All three of those coaches are significant upgrades. If Stevens truly is a no go, Tony Bennett is the guy

I like those as my top 3, albeit in a different order.  Regardless, I'd be content with any of said 3.

I've heard that Vitale basically has a 'care-taker' type person that goes with him everywhere now.  One of my buddies said he saw Dickie V at the UNC/Duke game last year with the caretaker and he was told it's his 'permanent chaperone' now.

Whoa.  So are you saying that Dickie is literally a "diaper dandy" these days? LOL

It's funny how many ex-coach/commentators are trying so hard to convince us we should love him. He can flat out coach a top three team into an also-ran baby! Brilliant!

He has had some impressive coaching displays, sometimes impressively awful but still impressive.

I hate the drama that has plagued the program the past several years. I hate the style of play on both ends of the court and the regular cycle of hope followed by disappointment. I just want to be able to enjoy IU basketball again.

So much this. It's after 3 and I'm checking BTB for the first time today. It's difficult to get super stoked about a game when you know what's coming. I'm not sure CTC was the best coach in the gym when he watched his son play ball, in the fourth grade.
