Per Cig tonight - "(Elijah) Sarratt has been practicing and looks fine." "Drew Evans is getting closer." Coach Cignetti on Purdue: "They are aggressive on both offense and defense. They are competitive at home." "I realize their record is not great, but they are much improved than the Purdue team we played last year." Curt Cignetti said they will try to keep Thanksgiving Thursday "as normal as possible" with the Purdue game being on a Friday. "We will probably have a meal at the hotel, and it will be a good meal."

This is just gonna be a strange season. All the guys we've gotten to know -- so to speak -- over the past few years are gone. Not only is this an entirely new roster of players nobody knows, a good many of them will only be here one season. IU basketball typically is not about casual fans, but in a way, you can't blame fans for taking a more casual approach to this season -- especially after 8 mediocre, undistinguished years of Archie and Woody.

I thought it was kinda funny during the women's game last night. The announcer was talking about the success of the athletic program right now: women's basketball is unbeaten and was a national power a couple years ago; men's basketball is unbeaten; volleyball is having a nice season; men's soccer is in the NCAAs and is a traditional power. Then he says, "And then there's the king: Curt Cignetti." Who would've EVER thought IU football would be the crown jewel of our athletic program and the football coach would be one of the most popular dudes on campus?

As a father of a 10 y/o lefty who hasn't made a shot this rec season, I can quantifiably confirm this statement.

Fernando is as perfect a "face of the team" player there is. What's real crazy is I'd say Fisher isn't too far off. If I were a casual fan or fan of like Syracuse or TCU etc I'd be really rooting for this team.

After the few minutes of good-timing, Fernando and Urban Meyer (but especially Fernando) talk about technical reads, coverages, and defensive 'tells' in a way that I have seldom, if ever heard in an interview. Or, to quote Urban Meyer, "This is like the best sh!t I've ever heard." This interview should be a recruiting video for Whitmer and Cig; no QB that wants to be great could resist it. This is the best behind the curtain stuff ever, presented by a Cal Berkeley School of Finance graduate with a next level brain to go with his talent. And you wonder why a guy like Mendoza is so incredibly good and a freshman or inexperienced QB has practically no chance in comparison? This also makes me realize just how viable Alberto is an an option for next year; he's been mentally wired to have the same split second high level processing. In summary? Shoot this stuff directly into my veins. It. Is. AWESOME.

A Fernando Mendoza Heisman speech would be an absolute all-timer. They pretty much always suck. His would go nuts.

Ware is currently averaging a double-double in only 24.1 minutes per game. Really having an excellent start to his season.

Closing on the sale of our house today...got full asking price! Our new one-story is shaping up nicely in a great location. My 40-year old daughter is giving birth to our first grandchild Friday! Nearing completion of the football season, IU stands alone atop the Big Ten! IU is undefeated at 11-0 and is way ahead of OSU which does not have as many wins. And, still, Purdue sucks! But topping those phenomenal events is Indiana basketball hosts Lindenwood U. this evening on BTN. The Lindy Lions No. 335 in KenPom just this summer became a transitional Division 1 team! IU is blessed to host them on our historical home court! Now that is something for the ages. Getting the popcorn ready.

Marquette will probably end up beating Purdue and balance out these early losses

I understand the thoughts on cupcakes but given we have an entirely new staff and roster I have no problem with the scheduling for this season. Going forward, we do need to do a better job with our non-con schedule.

And she said she watched a lot of Grace Berger film in working on that — "religiously, honestly." I read recently that he has a strong connection with the Oklahoma RB Coach, DeMarco Murray, pair that with the cancelled IU visit and whatever is going on in Oxford MS, and I would put a crystal ball on the Sooners.

Been a really ugly 1.5 games here. My goodness. I don't think the issue is about a bad habit of playing to the level of competition necessarily. This team had an issue with slow starts in general during the preseason. We'll see if they look more locked in against KSU/UL/UK... ...Or if the pessimistic read of the roster was a more accurate base case than a lot of us wanted to believe. Either way, I think I'm recalibrating on what a good season looks like for this team. Will probably need a lot of luck to make the tournament IMO. We could definitely upset a few teams if we get hot, though. Please start Alexis over Bailey. He's earned it.
