Since the one play, 75 yard touchdown drive to open the game, Old Dominion does not have a drive longer than 34 yards.

I have yet to see anyone saying it was good. His touch on short passes was bad. He made some decisions to throw in double coverage that weren't good despite them not getting picked. That said, he has a two year track record of being pretty good. I'm not going to throw it away on one game.

That is not what I hoped to see today. But, it’s one game. We have three weeks to evolve as a team and figure some things out. Unfortunately, we have a lot of work to do.

I thought he was good. He didn't throw a pick or lose the football via fumble. He hit multiple targets and threw to open receivers, that dropped his passes. He read the RPO correctly, for the most part. He rushed for positive yards when needed. And yes, he made typical 1st game mistakes. But most importantly, he managed the game to a win.1-0. On to the next game.

Rourke was really good and I thought that from game one. He was great and dropping back and hitting his number. With that said , Mendoza had a great deep ball that was a stone cold drop that would’ve made his numbers look a little better. Decent home opener. Lots to build on.

We left 14 to 21 points on the board. I’m definitely not panicking. We are still a portal heavy team, which makes getting everyone in sync more difficult — last year was sort of an anomaly in terms of how fast it came together. And our QB is much younger than our last guy. Let’s wait and see. Cig and staff will likely fix a lot of this. They didn't forget how to coach.

Saban, of course, was pushing the same narrative. They started out with a fairly reasonable tone implying that no one should be penalized in a close game between powerhouses like, as an example, Clemson-LSU. I actually agree with that to a degree. HOWEVER Saban steered that into a blanket “reward a win rather than penalize a loss narrative” which is his way of saying that Bama should not have been penalized for losing to crappy Vandy and crappy Oklahoma. It’s a false narrative to equate Texas losing at top 5 OSU to “let’s not penalize Bama for losing to Vandy”. Really tired of the SEC/ESPN narrative.

Am I the only 1 with no interest in watching the Corso stuff today? I’m sure it’ll be lovely and I really hope he’s got the full faculties activated but I don’t want to see it. He should have pulled the plug a couple of years ago. Last year was painful and I see no reason to think 8 months down the road will be better.
