Two of the ten. Arizona State/Texas and ND/PSU

Just the opposite -- he asked how many had been decided by more.  2 of the 10 have been decided by less, 8 of the 10 by more.

How many playoff games have been decided by more points than our loss?

But we were suppose to quit playing and accept our defeat since Notre Dame had the game won with 5 minutes left in the game! Truth is, if we had caught the 2 point conversion, we could have got another onside kick and tied the game, but how dare our team try to win a game that Notre Dame had declared to be over!

Here is what I think the logic is:

Regardless of the CFB playoff results, each year the media rights are ~$22M to the B1G/SEC schools and ~$13M to the ACC/B12 schools and ND.

So each year ND is ~$10M less of media rights than all the B1G and SEC schools.  The offset is if they do well in the playoff, they keep more.  Less guaranteed and more upside -- they need to make the playoff and win a game to equal the B1G/SEC schools.  Assuming that is about accurate, that seems pretty reasonable.  Fundamentally, the B1G and SEC would not let ND get too sweet of a deal...

ND gets about $50mil a year from NBC for their TV deal on top of ACC money. This year they’re making B1G media money.

Yea, that's layering in another revenue source.  In general, as you said it seems if ND makes some noise in the playoff they can get close to the B1G/SEC media and playoff money.  Seems fair.

This stuff gets exhausting to figure out.

Bottom line for me: It's great to be in the B1G, the media rights are amazing.

ND should have to play in a conference to make the playoff, and all conferences should have to play 9 conference games.

Not being able to get a bye is a pretty big penalty. I would never say conference champions get a bye. But you should at least have to play in a conference to get a bye.

How many teams ended the season with 2 losses and the 2 losses were at the the eventual national champion and runner up?

Probably virtually none. We only were able to do it because the playoff.

Tom Pelissero believes the Bears are still trying to get an interview with Freeman per ON3.
