skhoosier2 Posted Thursday at 08:46 PM Posted Thursday at 08:46 PM If I remember right, Shannahan mentioned they have had a 1 year starter for the last 6 or 7 seasons. They recruit QBs but what is the incentive to come if you aren't going to be the starter because they are looking for a proven guy every year? I get it. That's the single most important position on the offense and someone you cannot get wrong but if you don't give any of these guys a chance at some point they will all transfer IMO. I think most of us saw the writing on the wall when he did not enter the Oregon game. Tough loss but can't blame the kid for going to make his own path and have a chance to be a starter. Quote

One of these days we will lose a starting QB and somebody will get a chance to take the reins of a title contender. Kids will come for development and then if they don’t get that chance they will go to a Georgia Tech. Playing devil's advocate, I think development is development whether you ever start or not. And Cig has proven he does that better than anybody, so recruits should want to come. If Alberto balls out this year, it will be another feather in his cap. Develop at IU and make money starting somewhere else if things don't work out isn't the worst thing in the world. With better incoming talent, hopefully guys with a few years of development in the system would be as good as any transfer we could pull in. Or not, becuase we're pulling in a top 3 transfer QB each year. I don't really see a major problem either way. skhoosier2 1 Quote
