Maybe try winning big games or joining a conference? They play a 2 game schedule basically every year, and they lost the first one this season. 55th SOS and their best win is a Wisky that just got throttled by Iowa. Their fans being absolutely insufferable makes it all the sweeter. fwgreenway, Home Jersey, skhoosier2 and 5 others 7 1 Quote

The sports books don’t have a new line out yet, but the prediction markets have us at about a 60% chance to win right now, which is usually about a 4 point spread. Quote

They are so bad on X. It was all over my feed last night. Their media may be worse. It's all about comparison with IU. We are inches away from being undefeated. Meanwhile they looked like they were mid most of the BYU game and beat up on all teams under .500 to pad stats. 1 game season incoming then when they lose, they will take their ball and go home. No bowl game for them a second year in a row. Cannot believe they are favored Saturday. I hope Miami destroys them. Was I a little surprised we were 4? Yes BUT our defense is ELITE, our backup QB just came in and looked the part, and UCLA has played no one of consequence just yet. Maybe our ranking was a bit of politics making sure the major conference players got a seat at the table. But if UCLA and OSU stumbles we may be a 1 bid league. Win out and we get a bye. Drop 1 and we are still in. Quote

There's no logical reasoning with moping domers... just tell them "of course the defending national champions get the benefit of the doubt" and watch their heads explode... Would have to say that if Notre Dame drops their game to Miami, they are out of the mix. As much as I hate the Irish, putting them at 11 is just insane. Could make an argument for them to be 5th. I would think that’s what they are signaling. I’d also say they seem to be setting it up for 4-5 SEC teams vs only 3 B1G teams. I like our position but I wouldn’t want to lose to USC and see them win out and now it’s musical chairs of 4 B1G for 3 spots and us having lost the head to head to two of them. Quote

Hovadipo Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Maybe I'm projecting my feelings onto the committee, but that Notre Dame ranking absolutely reeks of the committee telling them "we're tired of playing your stupid game and we do not support the deal you cut with the CFP last year. Get right or get left." But also, their resume blows. So it could just be that. RaceToTheTop, BannerVille, Lebowski and 1 other 4 Quote

Notre Dame plays a two game season each year, and if they lose both they’re always going to be on the fence for a 12 team playoff. I also don’t think they’ll drop much if they lose to the #1 team and then finish the year at 10-2, especially if BYU remains a playoff team. There will be a glut of 9-3 SEC teams that they’ll have to compete with, but 10-2 Notre Dame has a pretty good chance to get in. Quote

One can only hope Miami absolutely destroys the crybabies on Saturday. CFP Selection Committee Chair Hunter Yurachek was asked that very question on Tuesday evening after the rankings reveal. Yurachek said live on ESPN that Notre Dame lacked a signature win compared to the teams ahead of it in the rankings. Later on a teleconference with the media, he was asked to expand on that comment, specifically as it relates to IU. “Yeah, I think comparatively Indiana has five, six games against teams that are .500 and above, and they’re 5-1 in those games,” Yurachek said. “Notre Dame has two games against teams that are .500 and above. They’ve won one of those games and lost the other one of those games. “I think Notre Dame’s overall body of work is against a strength of schedule that’s not as strong as Indiana’s. Again, Notre Dame has a great opportunity in front of them at home against the No. 1 team in our CFP ranking this weekend to get that signature win.” taco corp, Home Jersey, Stuhoo and 4 others 7 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Is there a way for both teams to get blown out in the same game? Would love to see the Whining Irish absolutely throttled, but not sure I want to see Miami win, let alone pound someone with hopes of making the playoffs. After ND, Miami has Duke (6-2), Virginia Tech (6-2) and Boston College (4-4) left, and I don't see any of them challenging the 'Canes. The Domers have BC (6-2), SMU (6-2) and Syracuse (4-4). ND being ND, they are more than capable of losing to any/multiple of their remaining opponents. go iu bb, ronzo4IU and skhoosier2 1 2 Quote
Home Jersey Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago IMO the ideal scenario is for ND to beat Miami only to turnaround and lose to BC, SMU or Syracuse and miss the CFP. Really crush their whiny fans hopes and dreams. I will also be happy with a Miami win of course. Quote
Magnanimous Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago En route to our second title this season, I would like for us to beat Notre Dame, Georgia, and one of LSU or Texas. So hopefully ND makes the playoffs this year. Stuhoo 1 Quote
skhoosier2 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Listening to these podcasts today on the rankings = brutal. Lots of IU hate for the schedule and the h2h loss with OSU. Outrage for OSU at 12. Complaining about ND too low and Bama way too high. We all know and can see there is an SEC bias. I am guessing we are at 4 due to B1G being much weaker this year and the committee looks at us as the best team/metrics SOR/wins against .500 opponents plus a B1G title winner will presumably be getting a bye.
