Alford Bailey Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I think McSwain is Troy's replacement but no sign of a TB replacement yet. May be good news. TB was so up and down this year I think the right big grad transfer could be as productive as Bryant will be. What I dont want is to have to count on Davis as our low post presence. Quote

Ended up with Priller and April. Doubt we end up in that situation again or at least hope not. Quote

If I had to guess the reason they didn't go after any big's in 2014 were because at the time Fischer was probably looked at as the plan if Noah left early. Turned out iu lost both. Once he left mid season now you are trying to play catchup in the late signing period against teams that have already been recruiting most of the kids. They did try and land some late guys but they chose to play elsewhere. Maten went to Georgia and Clark went to mich st. Now in full panic mode the staff had to reach with priller and April. All Hoosier, to me, is the kid who works his tail off in practice to get better. Is that Priller? I don't have a clue other than to gauge it on his inability to get in games before walk ons. I don't mind Priller but just don't how to feel on this one. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
Hoosiers219 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 This is my belief, as well. But, do not know who is advising, beyond Crean, and staff. My belief too. What strikes me is that Thomas Bryant is very young. I think that his maturity might very well require another year in college. I think he would benefit with another year of growth at the college level. His game would certainly benefit and I believe he would be able to answer some of the doubters in regard to his ability to defend the pick and roll and his lateral quickness. I have to imagine that he would creep into a top 14 pic, if he were to stay this year with the Hoosiers. Quote

I would like to see McSwain and one other player to fill need depending on departures and whether we could land a slam dunk late signee. A true PG or big should TB hire an agent would really round out the roster nicely. Quote

Not his fault crean offered him a scholly when he clearly isn't a d1 talent. From the Instagram posts and Twitter post I've seen from his and Indiana basketball accounts it's clear to me the kid loves being a part of the Indiana program. I see him living out the dream of every Hoosier basketball super fun. IUsince1980 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 The fact that we havent seen any recent offers for a big tells me that TB is back. I've said all along I feel this kid will see another year of college ball will do him wonders. Plus, not hard to see he loves the college ranks with how ge carries himself on court. Tom White 1 Quote

I wouldn't read too much into the "no recent offers for a big" dynamic. We have DeRon Davis, our young talented big, already signed and on the way. If we lose TB, it would be far more likely we'd be looking for a Max Bielfeldt type to fill the gap. Quote

But Vonleh had spent a ton of time as a starter for a playoff team this year. Vonleh still went Top 10 as well. In the range he was expected to go. Believe me, I'm a local, I am very familiar with Vonleh's current situation. I'm very happy it worked out, but it should not be the model for anyone. He had a lot of things happen at exactly the right time. And yeah, he was expected to go top 10 and did. How does that change that TB is not expected to go top 10? If Vonleh took years to get into a favorable (but far from the best available) position as a top 10 pick, what does that tell us about a player projected 10 picks behind him? Alford Bailey 1 Quote
incrediboy Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 As long as OG and Juwan stay, we will have a solid core of players with or without Troy and Bryant. I was stunned to read Thon Maker is entering the draft, I was hoping if we lost Bryant we had a shot at him. But it doesn't matter, with Deron Davis, Hartman and OG we have a decent front line. Bryant staying makes it a great front line. McSwain and Morgan give us some more talented guys in that 6-6 to 6-8 range. Morgan has shown he can play guard as well, but with some time in the weight room, he could be a force on the front line. He positions well. We have such a quantity of guards I have no worries there. RoJo, Blackmon and Newkirk are all experienced. Gelon can hopefully fit where NZ and Roth did -- as the guy who can come off the bench and hit a few 3's. I think our main issue is keeping injury-prone guys healthy. If we can do that and Crean is able to bring this group along as he did in 2015-16, we'll be just fine. colonel06 1 Quote
