Trish Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Might have to go check out Dennys or Rural King. I feel like he'd make a stop to one of those places tonight if he's in town FortWayneHoosier and southsidehoosier 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) Getting crazy on Twitter and we've still got 24 more hours. Apparently Todd Jadlow is in town and attended practice today. Rabjohns has picked up on it but identified Todd as a member of the 1976 team! Also Fisch has indicated Ass't. Coach on that team, Bob Weltlich, is expected to be in the Hall. Rabjohns caught his error and since corrected Todd as a member of the 1987 championship team Edited January 5, 2016 by Class of '66 Old Fart Quote
Parakeet Jones Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 If he ever does come back, I have a feeling it will not be a huge hyped up thing, but a surprise when we least expect it. Quote
LIHoosier Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Whatever happens, most of us will know. The halftime presentation will be on ESPN 3. https://twitter.com/MikeMillerHT/status/684163326318804992 Stuhoo, Str8Hoosiers, Naturalhoosier and 3 others 6 Quote
colonel06 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 What do you guys think my chances of getting a ticket for tomorrow? I'm thinking of popping down there as the excitement of it all is building fast:) Quote

cthomas Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I don't expect to ever see Coach Knight in Assembly Hall again. His pride will not allow it and that is his choice. I loved / hated him when he was here and was generally more conflicted about him than any coach I can remember. I never knew for sure if he was a mad genius or just plain mad. If he returns or not, I'm fine either way. Quote

8bucks Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Watching the Kansas game and Dickie V is commenting. Strangely I have not heard him say "Bobby you gotta be there baby, can you imagine the general walking out on that court? Bobby you have to come home and be a part of this.!" BGleas Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I don't think Knight ever comes back, but if he does my guess is it will not be for some kind of anniversary or recognition game. It will be just a random game and everyone will do their best to keep it out of the media/quiet until he walks out right before tip-off. No ceremonies, no halftime speeches, etc. Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 See tweets from the pre-game event being held in the women's practice gym. 9 of the 12 members of that team are there: Jim Roberson Wayne Radford Bobby Wilkerson Scott May Quinn Buckner Kent Benson Tom Abernethy Jim Crews Scott Eells. I'm mildly surprised that Roberson is there as he was 1 of the 3 players kicked off the team 6 games into the 1978-1979 season for marijuana. Just for fun facts, the 3 that are not there: Bob Bender - Freshman; transferred to Duke Mark Haymore - Sophmore; transferred to UMass; passed away in 2004. Rich Valavicius - Freshman; transferred to Auburn. yogisballin, Stuhoo, hoosierdogg and 2 others 5 Quote

I still remember that 1976 championship game when Jimmy came off the bench when Wilkerson went down early in the game. The Hoosiers stuck it to UM that night. Quote

If you recall those years, Crews was a frosh starter in a final four squad that lost to Waltons UCLA team. Jim was a quality sub. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Thank you Hoosierdogg. I've kept seeing references to 12 members of that team but in fact, there were 13 and your mention of Jim triggered my fading memory. Jim Wisman was a member of that team and I think it was Wisman who came in for the injured Wilkerson in that championship game. Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 It was a struggle for us on National TV tonight but I am so glad we won on the night we were honoring the 1976 team. Can't beat perfection! It was great to see so many of those 76 guys put aside their differences with IU and show up. The way it should be. Once a Hoosier---Always a Hoosier! HoosierAloha 1 Quote
