I've been wondering the same - which side is waffling. My feeling (based on nothing other than that) is that he has been told that he can commit at any time, but they still may take another PG if that opportunity presents itself.

I have no idea what is going on here, but it just seems strange given the information I've seen posted. I really like RP, but if he is that worried about who else might be here, this might not be the best place for him. Then again, I have no clue how young people think these days.

I like patience in recruiting.  Let's get the right guy.  If other PGs are genuinely interested, let's get whoever is the best fit.  If this takes officials to figure it out, that's all good with me.  

 

This being said, RP could commit before weekends end for all I know.

Went back to doing the 24/7 basketball class calculator this morning to bring us some luck in recruiting again. So....

if we pick up Phinisee we will be the #4 best recruiting team. if we pick up additional Romeo we will go to #1! boom

My personal thought is the staff wanted to wait Garland out and find out if we have a legit shot before taking RP.  

I think if we take RP early we aren't getting DG.  The think the recent CB action indicates this notion.  Jones to Duke.  Garland next.  People think Vandy.  IU slotting leads to RP.

Phinisee liked this tweet on Twitter. The tweet being quoted doesn't show up in the embed but the tweet being referenced says "SOURCES: Robert Phinisee committing to IU within the next 48 hours". 

Wish I would've seen this before the "committing Thursday night prediction". 48 hours doesn't rule out Sunday though!

The Indiana Hoosiers got more good news on Saturday as they kept another in-state star home. Four-star point guard Robert Phinisee selected the Hoosiers over Ohio State and Purdue giving Archie Miller and his staff a very solid floor leader.

With point guard Josh Newkirk graduating following the 2017-18 season, Indiana focused on a point guard to come in and contribute right away. One of the players who got immediate attention was Phinisee. Phinisee on Saturday decided to end his recruitment and pick the Hoosiers, and now Miller is getting one of the best true floor generals in the Midwest.

"I have committed to Indiana," Phinisee informed Scout.com. "Right when Coach Miller and his staff got the job I was one of the first guys he contacted so that was big. I feel like Coach Miller is a great coach and he will bring a national title back to Indiana."

According to his AAU Coach with Indiana Elite, Mike Fox, Indiana is getting a difference maker in Phinisee.

"Rob is just an old school point guard," said Fox. "He is a guy who will get the ball to his teammates in the right place where they can be productive and be the best players they can be."

Fox continued, "Rob is going to play great defense and also be hard for opposing defenders to guard. He is just an old school pass first point guard who will make others better."

About how he fits in with what Miller likes to do, Phinisee said, "Coach Miller likes to have his point guard get out in transition which is what I am good with. Also they use a lot of ball screens, and they like how I have vision off of ball screens and can make plays.

By landing Phinisee the Hoosiers now have three prospects committed in the 2018 class, all of which are top 100 players. Phinisee checks in as the No. 95 player in the class and is the top point guard in the Hoosier State.
