Count me as one person who has been very displeased with Rob.  Hopefully this season he dribbles with his head up, planning ahead.  I feel like too many times he dribbled to a spot and then picked up his dribble without a plan on where the ball would go next.  Man I hope he fixes that.

I think we are in for a few surprises this season. I really think that our former coach micromanaged the hell out of the guys and really took them out of their game. I think that is why Rob has had issues, he was not in control of the game, coach was! That is why I think on almost every possession you would see Rob or however brought the ball up the floor were constantly looking at the bench to see what he wanted them to do.

Agree. And his comments from the article WoodenshoemanHoosierfan posted are pretty telling:

"Just being able to be confident, having the open floor, being able to play my game, really just show my talents like I did earlier in my career," Phinisee said.

And there seems little doubt with the "why" of his improved play.

"New coaching staff and everything, new offense, just instilled the confidence for me, helped me to continue to be a leader, continue to get better each day."

Good takes in this thread—everyone (including, apparently, Rob) has been disappointed.
Still, I find him to be a player that I really root for. Would be great if the light turns on. He’s such a good on ball defender too.
I’m expecting him to be a starter at the start of the season.
Same here. Even when he was playing terrible, which happened quite a bit(like most of the team), I couldn't be as critical of him as I would some others.

I would love to Phin go out on a high note this season.  All these players need something good to happen this season!

Although if I hear Stephen Bardo say, "Oh, I just want to go down there and give that kid a hug.", I'm going to lose it!

He's just a junior by eligibility.

Good comments and he could be huge if he is even like freshman rob but I don’t put much stock in it till we see it consistently on the court.

He had such a natural feel for the game as freshman I think we all expected big things. I’m not sure how you even regain that. I’d love for him to be a starter again but would hope he can at least fill the role as really good backup pg that still gets about 20min/gm.

I think Rob could very well end up being the better guard. But I have no problem with Rob coming off the bench for the season. Could definitely see Rob finishing more games on the court.

I could easily see both Rob and X on the court at end game. Two of our best, physical defenders.

Agree completely...IF...Rob can get his shot back.

It's been posted on here a few times, at least when it was posted, when the lineups were compared those with both Rob and X on the floor together were the most efficient -- they play well together, and the team has played well with both of them, as opposed to just one of them, on the floor. I haven't seen recent game lineup comparisons, but it good info when posted.

Edit -- just saw that was an older post, DWB, but would be interesting to see if this remains the case through today on game lineup comparisons
