Sam_Boger Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 Immediately eligible? Appears he has to sit out a year. Coming off a knee surgery. Quote
Dalton26 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Was just coming to post this. Anyone know much about him? Quote
barrettballer Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 5.9 ppg with two years of eligibility left. Has to sit out this year Quote
Magnanimous Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 He was ranked around the 20th PG in his class. Originally from North Carolina. He's also coming off of microfracture knee surgery. Looks like we may have just got Yogi's replacement. Apparently not a very good shooter, but very quick. Quote
Beowulf50 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Was just coming to post this. Anyone know much about him? A quick point guard who struggled to find his shot while at Pitt. He was expected to be a top ACC player. Prilla the Thrilla and Dalton26 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 A quick point guard who struggled to find his shot while at Pitt. He was expected to be a top ACC player. This from ESPN: Newkirk averaged 5.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last season for the Panthers. He underwent microfracture surgery on his knee on May 6. The Panthers had hoped the speedy Newkirk would develop into one of the ACC's better point guards but it never happened. He struggled finding his shot, making just 38 percent of his field goal attempts as a sophomore in 2014-15 as Pitt failed to make the NCAA tournament. Not very spectacular stats and now dealing with surgery rehab issues. Not knocking either Grant or Newkirk but not exactly the first 2 commitments I would like to necessarily have coming in next season. I know we have a lot of openings but I also can't help but think that some of the big names have give CTC indications they ain't coming to Bloomington. Hope I'm wrong; very wrong. Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted August 23, 2015 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2015 Such odd choices by our staff. A PG who can't shoot coming off knee surgery. Sure, sign him up. We are Indiana. Tom White, Bobman1, Defenserocks28 and 8 others 11 Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Oh wow, this will be a very nice addition imo. The year he has to sit out will help give him time to heal and get ready for the following season. lillurk and Ranger78 2 Quote
FKfootball Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Well, he has a season in our program to get better. I always liked him. lillurk 1 Quote

Rather transition to a veteran PG than plug an 18 year old in there. Kid has potential. Ranger78, BigBaller23, incrediboy and 2 others 5 Quote

Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted August 23, 2015 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2015 You will be happy with this kid being our lead PG? Me neither. We are becoming Pitt, Xavier, Marquette. Not Duke, Arizona, Kansas. ThompsonHoosier, 8bucks, Hoosierfan2017 and 9 others 12 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Time has proven AGE and Experience nowadays means little compared to the the days of old. It's ALL about skill. Duke and UK have proven this fact. A middling PG is a middling PG. If he were our backup PG for the future i could live with that. MikeRoberts, Alford Bailey, Prilla the Thrilla and 1 other 4 Quote

Popular Post KingPG21 Posted August 23, 2015 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2015 So we get a middling point guard from the ACC. And we already have a low rated guy who might be a Matt Roth type producer. Ugh Class of '66 Old Fart, WayneFleekHoosier, MikeRoberts and 5 others 8 Quote
MikeRoberts Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 The good news is we can still recruit a stud pg and he won't be worried about playing time. If we land a stud pg then we have a solid first and second stringer. If he ends up being our first stringer we might be in trouble Hutch89 1 Quote
Hovadipo Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I like it. I like it even more if we add CuJo. I don't really want Rob playing extended PG minutes. lillurk, Bobman1, JaybobHoosier and 2 others 5 Quote
