How can the NCAA overlook academic fraud that went on for at least 9 years and affected over 3,100 student-athletes?  Sure seems to SCREAM lack of institutional control to me!  No way you will get me to believe anything but that Ole Roy and ALL the sports programs knew exactly what was going on.....there were rumors about this when May was at UNC.

Looks like they'll likely receive a 2 year post season ban and lose some scholarships. If the NCAA can prove there were ineligible players on the 2005 and 2009 championship teams then the banners will come down.

Reporting from the Heart of Tar Heel country. Folks down here are more nervous than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! All party's towing the company line, "We will learn from this" blah, blah, blah. I hope the NCAA drops the hammer and makes an example of these cheats. Go Hoosiers!

Postseason ban this season will be great, and crushing, and deserved.  They were likely the preseason number 1,2, or 3.  Don't let the cheaters prosper.  Hit 'em where it hurts and level the playing field.

I don't expect it will be for this season unless UNC self-imposes. Likely 2016-2017 will be the first year.

not saying your wrong but why? Makes sense to do it now, not off in the far distance. We are a long ways away from the start of the season

UNC still has 90 days to respond to the NOA. After that (to my understanding) there's a hearing and then the NCAA takes time to decide a punishment. Syracuse had their hearing in October and didn't hear back until March. These things tend to go slow.

I disagree to a certain degree. I'm all for punishing cheaters but why should the kids that had nothing to do with it get punished? I'm not really sure of a sure fire way to punish them and avoid that but I wish there was.

Well...

Let me posit this theory......

It is highly likely these current kids have benefitted from the same perks as the previous kids considering their "mentors" are the same. That's first.

Furthermore, EVERYONE knew that allegations of improprieties were surrounding the program including these current players. It has affected recruiting for UNC to a certain extent.

Finally, I am a firm believer you must punish "Crimes" very firmly to make a point and hopefully prevent others from recreating those "Crimes".

Assuming players aren't or weren't getting benefits, my solution is, allow those students to transfer without sitting a year.

Problems solved.
