IU vs. MSU Postgame

Recommended Posts

I have other close sources who completely disagree with you and practices. Just an fyi

Didn't Cody say the team that lost to Syracuse was physically wore out at the end of the year?

Fading down the stretch has happened regularly with Crean, but it has nothing to do with him.  Sure.

None of those things needed proving. He's a proven coach. That can't be argued. His coaching ability has been demonstrated...

His fate is determined by results, bottom line.

He's had four teams with a "normal" roster. Likely 3/4 NCAAs, two S16, a B1G title. Is that really mediocrity? IU better be careful. It could be a LOT worse than Tom Crean.

I thought you said you were done defending him?

This was supposed to be the kind of team he wanted, it was supposed to be the year he proved his coaching mettle.  We read that on this board all off-season.  The result?  An 8th place finish in a year where the B1G is down.  If that's demonstrating his coaching ability then this program is not in good hands.  If he's proven anything, he's proven his detractors right.

Yogi's fate might be linked with CTC's hmmm?

If that's the case, then so be it and good luck to both of them. We need to build a program which starts with hiring the right coach. Crean ain't the guy. If we get one of the guys rumored to be in the running, I don't think we have to worry about getting good players. If Yogi is that selfish and short-sighted, then it's on him. Keeping Yogi should NOT be a factor considered in this decision.

I don't want to be pushed into a Mike Davis type of a situation again. Look, if Crean is not the right man for the job you let him go. The backlash stuff will sort itself out. Yogi has one year left. I want him back as much as anyone. However, he has made one tournament (NOT HIS FAULT), so I don't feel him coming or staying should have any sway on Crean coming or going. I don't know if Crean is coming back, but the university was here long before him, and will be here long after him. You get a coach who the kids will trust and all will be well. IF you don't want to fire him, the discussion is for nothing. We cannot put ourselves in another Mike Davis scenario. That pushed us back way too far.

Bingo!

Whoever plays next year better figure out how to play defense. 3 star 4 star 5 star, NO star - show some effort on defense.

If Crean is still here, he should hire a DEF coordinator...

Doug Mallory might need a job.

This "defense", I can't even type that with a straight face, is so horrid not even he could make it any worse.

@CJDischinger: @retrojay23 huge fan. Swam for Hoosiers. Very much not a knee jerk fan. His is 7yrs & I know he treats his players from those close to team

@CJDischinger: @retrojay23 these players DO NOT like him. That's where you are way off. That is 100% fact. Trust me on that.

Interesting...

How does pressing in a game relate to having hardcore walkthroughs that tire his players?

Your whole "I'm above you dumb HOOSIER NATION people" schtick is getting old, fast.

I agree this person must have vested interests in Crean. They know all and anyone who questions them or Crean is dumb. Indiana is a historic program with a lot of success and NCAA appearances before Crean.

Well I'm probably one of the last holdouts up until now, but it's gotta be time for a change.  Based upon the talent on this team, there's no reason to miss the NCAA tournament, or even be on the bubble for that matter.

PG - 5 star

SG - 5 star

SF - 4 star, top 50 player

PF - 4 star, top 50 player

C - 4 star, top 50 player

There just aren't any excuses.  The results speak louder than anything.

except the small forward is a 6'3 shooting guard, the Power forward is a skinny 6'7" wing and the center is a 6 '8" power forward

Thats what I said all year last year and all this year. Dakich said it over and over again during the game. Why can't we try to press earlier in the game? Michigan St couldnt handle it when we pressed and played pressure D

I heard him, but I'm not sure either you or Dakich watched the game. Our "press" didn't to squat. It was a situation where we "foul" and they miss. It wasn't like they were rattled and kept tossing the ball away. And you can't foul like that all game.

Maybe, I'm wrong and something totally different happened, but did we force say, 3 turnovers the last 3 minutes with the pressure D?
