Michigan State should be favored to win the Big Ten next year and Butler could be in the Big East basement. Not only that, they played each other 2 years ago as a Gavitt game at Hinkle. I'd have Creighton at MSU and Iowa at Butler. lillurk and craigyv88 2 Quote

Gotta say, one reason to love this board and specifically this thread is I saw some chatter from Twitter Ball Knowers — even ones I like! — that complained about the matchups. But I agree with you: some really good ones. I’ll try to tune in for X@PU, Marq@Ill, UM@SJU, UMd@VU, and Iowa@Creighton. MemphisHoosier 1 Quote

I remember reading an article by David Woods who talked about the move to the Big East didn't make sense given that Butler does not have as large of an endowment as say a Georgetown or another school with the same endowment. Even their move to the A10 didn't make much sense. They also didn't have many tournament chances in the Horizon but don't know what conference they should be in. Quote

Missouri Valley would have probably been a good fit. Non-football conference who has years with at large possibilities for the NCAA tournament. Butler took the success they had a few years in the NCAA tournament and sold high, but the past three seasons they've went 38-52 and 20-40 in conference. OliviaPope40 1 Quote

Every time I they will suck, Painter pulls a rabbit out of his hat and they are better than expected. Purdue is a system team. Even without Edey, Painter’s system keeps Purdue consistently in games against more talented teams. But as we learned against Miami, talent - especially long, athletic playmakers - becomes harder to overcome in the NCAA Tournament. When you have a kid like Edey you can negate that to an extent. But had Purdue shown even serviceable play from the guard/wing position they could have won a title, let alone never had the worst loss in NCAA Tournament history. Between Smith, Loyer and Morton you have an extreme lack of athleticism. They’re all solid players, and if the other two -particularly the guard spots - are athletic and long you probably would be ok. Having Smith and Loyer to compliment Morton, however, exposed Purdue badly. cthomas 1 Quote
