We earned the right to play in Portland in the first round (Monday qualifier in PGA terms) and then laid an egg (withdrawing after Thurday's round in PGA terms). I think it's cool they expanded the tourney to 68 teams and gives the little schools a chance to get NCAA tourney wins. I hold IU to a little higher standard and it's more than okay people view this differently. It's great that the record book shows we won a first four game and the Big 1.o got a little money for it. Heck, in 10 years there might be another round or the first four might expand to first 16. That would be really cool for smaller schools to get more chances at wins. I'd like to see us back to consistently COMPETING for Big 1.o titles (regular and tourney) while making deep runs in the tourney. It's cool to see us back in the tourney but that should be a minimum for this program. Absolutely IU won a game in the ncaa tournament and advanced to Portland. Received another win in the record books for ncaa tournament wins to and added to their win total probably keeping them in the top 10. Monday qualifying pga terms mean you are trying to qualify for the pga event that is on Thursday meaning you are not in the field yet. Playing on Tuesday of a 68 field tournament means you are already in the field of 68. If this tournament was a field of 64 tournament then you would be right IU wouldn’t of been in it but as the rules are it’s a field of 68 tournament not field of 64 no matter how bad people want to assume it’s a field of 64 tournament. Fantastic tournament win for a program that hasn’t had one since 2016 woodenshoemanHoosierfan 1 Quote

What did you disagree with in the PGA reference? It does lack a little in that our qualifier was on a Tuesday and the PGA is on a Monday. My comment had nothing to do with the PGA reference, but since you mention it again, maybe a full day of, say 36 holes of golf would be a nice little Friday? HoosierAloha 1 Quote

Fantastic tournament win for a program that hasn’t had one since 2016 You are correct and that's what the record book shows. For me, and I'm sure some others, the first four is a good opportunity for those schools who typically don't have a great chance at getting wins in the NCAA tourney. It's about perspective and I'm glad we could add that to our win total. I view it differently in a historical perspective. A first four win was tremendous for what we've become as a program. It can and should add a little momentum moving forward. Uspshoosier 1 Quote

I've been spoiled and have become a fair weather golfer. While the weather is nice, it's not that nice. Plus, 36 holes in one day would be a lot e and e. I'm not sure I'd have the physical or mental capacity to concentrate for that long. Quote

pumpfake Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Best of luck to him. Interesting point about transitions not always taking off "smooth". In retrospect I think much of his failure here started in his first month with being forced to keep players & recruits and not pursue the guard he had successfully recruited for UD - that could have been a huge difference maker for us. Unfortunatey he never really got any momentum here. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Magnanimous Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 We may be seeing history in the women’s tournament today. South Carolina up on 16 seed Howard 44-4 at halftime. Howard is 1-26 from the field in the first half. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
