gfeltner28 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I wish we would throw a little more early in the game to open up the run game. It seems like in the first half we're so predictable with our play calling. Home Jersey and mamasa 2 Quote

Inaccurate and doesn’t see the field as he doesn’t see/throw to wide open guys. He is not elite but good/very good QB and plenty of team have won with a QB like that. Flush this loss and beat UM. We really, really, really, really need a W next week. str8baller, KingPG21, BtownStrength and 1 other 4 Quote

I can’t think of a single team that has won when their QB can’t hit wide open guys when the opponent is stacking 8 guys to stop the run. Game managers make opposing Ds pay for selling out against the run. Quote

Claxdj01 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Disappointing loss in a very winnable game. Defense played fantastic. The first drive was a little rough, but they really buckled down after that. Offensively a lot was left to be desired. Hoovers inaccuracy is very frustrating. But you can live with it. My biggest problem of his game is frequently not noticing guys who are completely wide open. At this level you can’t miss those reads. The stubbornness of running the ball up the middle for no gain kept creating third and longs. Whether that’s on play calling or Hoover not checking into the right play I don’t know. Jackson of Ohio state gets perhaps the most generous spots I’ve ever seen. Missing a chip shot field goal after Hoover didn’t see the tight end that didn’t have a defender within 10 yards is disappointing, but I was more disappointed in wasting a time out to send the field goal unit for a 55 yarder. It didn’t even have a chance. All isn’t lost, if they can win out they will still most certainly be in the playoffs, but a lot of things to clean up offensively. BtownStrength 1 Quote

JSHoosier Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Good news, Hoover still doesn't have an interception. Bad news, he just overthrew another one. Hardwood83 and OliviaPope40 2 Quote
Popular Post Stuhoo Posted October 18 Popular Post Posted October 18 Was at the game yesterday. The single best IU home game football atmosphere ever. One of the best times I’ve ever had at an IU sporting event. Great game. When two top of the top teams play, so many things that each team is used to doing get taken away from them. Can’t wait to see what comes next for this IU team. Home Jersey, HoosierReb01, Pagoda and 6 others 9 Quote

Just too many mistakes. The step out on the long pass at the end of the game did not lose the game. Don't understand the 55' FG attempt. And some play calling. I hope that Hoover can read receivers routes and be more accurate. But doubt it. That is the way it is. Still IU has a very good team. Proud of them and the fans. Stuhoo 1 Quote
HoosierReb01 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 And IU moves up 2 spots in ESPN's FPI to #5 after that game. Obviously if you're going to lose a close game to a higher ranked opponent, yesterday was the best day to do it as far as rankings go. RaceToTheTop, Napleshoosier and J34 3 Quote

Marsh drifted out on the last play but if Hoover gets rid of that a just little sooner it's a TD. Drew Evans got abused and gave Hoover no time. Going to be a rough day in the film room for Evans, had a rough day. Never thought that would be an issue. Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I am still scratching my head that IU passed up a 45 yard field goal earlier in the game and then tried a 55 yard one later. Quote
johnsoniu Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Coffee tastes rather bland this morning. Coulda woulda shoulda. Good game between two very good teams, they made one more play than we did. He shouldn’t have even needed to attempt that field goal as Schott was so wide open he could have crawled into the end zone. We left a minimum of 14 points on the table, probably more like 21. OliviaPope40 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Let me ask this in the first half on the one that we challenged as whether or not it was a catch would you have challenged that and waste a timeout? Quote
