RoadRage Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I know that was not a perfect game today by IU, and the defense especially looked vulnerable, but I think the announcers today, especially Gus's second banana did their best to down play IU perhaps to justify the #6 ranking. IU, unlike OSU, Oregon, and Georgia is going to have to go undefeated in the regular season to have any chance for a bye in the playoffs because I have a feeling the media is going to be very critical and do their best to keep us as low in the polls as possible this season! He looked really good especially with his timing with the recievers. I stand by my assessment that you can have a dang good season and not replicate what Mendoza did last year. But I feel pretty good about QB and our skill positions on offense. I think our WR could be the best in the nation and Becker will probably be on the shortlist for the Biletnikoff. Quote
Popular Post LamarCheeks Posted September 5 Popular Post Posted September 5 What do you do when make your debut as a defending national champion and claim your program's 17th straight victory. When your reigning national Coach of the Year improves to 28-2 in Bloomington? When you score 52 points before a sellout crowd on a 90-degree day despite a bit of an uneven performance? YOU SING! They did last year, but we were #1, they didn't have much choice. All I'm saying is the media will drop us like a rock if we lose a game, it's more the media than the committee, but the committee is certainly affected by polling. Quote

Where we really got screwed, but it was the rule that year, was the auto bye for the G5. If not for that (ie if the games were lined up by ranking) we would have hosted Boise State which would have been sweet. Hovadipo, str8baller and RoadRage 3 Quote
