That's a really solid non-conference resume win, especially given the margin of victory.

I thought DeVries did an excellent coaching job the last 5 or so minutes of the first half going back to Tucker and Alexis offense for defense to stretch the lead back out. Many coaches would have just sat them the rest of the half.

I HATE the “auto-sit” after two fouls. How many teams have fallen hopelessly behind while sitting an integral player because he got his 2nd first half foul?

I’m a firm believer that a reform needed is that coaches can appeal fouls at half time. It doesn’t undo any FTs taken but it could keep players in the game. If a guy gets a foul but it was a terrible call you keep playing him hoping to get it taken away on appeal.

Gotta admit Enright is proving his worth

Watching him in the Valley during his Drake days I came to respect his game.  Just plays hard.   The year Drake beat ISU in the MVC finals it was Enright who buried a 3 that sealed that win over the sycamores.   That game was a battle

We have a group of winners. Multiple all conference players. There’s  always a question whether a player can make the transition to power conf level play, but with their  combination of winning all-conference level experience plus the way DeVries built the team so they each compliment each other, and their mindset of putting winning ahead of individual points, always thought they’d be better than projected. So freaking refreshing

After a subpar first half, Bailey played his best half of the year in the second half.

True. I've been (justifiably) critical of him. He's slow, weak with the ball, unathletic and makes some bad decisions.....despite that he produced tonight, so "production over potential!"

Was impressed with Conerway. He looked much better on defense. He still is learning to finish in traffic at the rim but I think he might get there.

So weird that we’re getting by on the strength of our defense after averaging 100 ppg the first three games. But that’s probably a good thing come conference time.

Agree.

This team showed potential for improved D last night, which is a very good sign.  We did better than I thought we would, especially on PJ.  And on the offensive side we know this team can be a little better than we were.

We have a long way to go and tougher games coming, but through the first six games I'm not seeing any red flags and things look pretty good, which is about all I can ask for.

It will be interesting to see how much CDD can get from this team.  How consistent can we be?  And if we defend better like last night AND click on offense... we can beat some very good teams.

So refreshing to listen to a presser of a coach that actually analyzes the game and can communicate that he understands in real time what is happening on the floor.
Doesn’t need to “look at the film” or provide endless basketball cliches.

That's a passive aggressive attack of the Hump! How dare you?

Yep. We’re firmly in the “meets expectations” category.

I feel good about them, so it’s kind of greedy to nit pick some things. But I actually think we have some room for improvement, which is a good thing because it raises our ceiling. If we can learn to deal with high pressure in the half court and get our off ball movement back in rhythm we’ll be able to compete with about anyone if the defense holds.

From the KSU message board. When was the last time we had a player that will consistently get this 'allegedly negative' but completely complimentary reaction from opposing fans... maybe WIll Sheehey?

Connor Enright is the kind of kid that helps in one very key statistical category: won/lost record.

Last night really sold me on him as a high-level perimeter defender. Not JUST that he gave Haggerty the business but the way it happened: TOs, not getting to his spots or having space to shoot, giving up ~3 inches to a legit high-major scorer/all-american caliber player.
