Didn’t know that Wheeler had a year left.

3 full FBS years, a 4-gamer at FBS, and a JUCO year. I’m not totally sure he does?

Any idea if we have any upcoming visits from portal or even HS kids?  I mean the staff hasn’t had anything to do for a few days now come on lol

On3 reports DL Hosea Wheeler enters portal

Dang. If he did have eligibility he would certainly be playing a big role next year.

Osterman -

Omar Cooper says his NFL decision should come soon: “I’ve still got to talk with my parents and my agent, and I still have a lot of praying to do about it. An announcement will be coming really soon.”

Young man is an absolute legend. Nothing but the best for this kid. But I do hope what’s best is another year in Bloomington.

DT4, at best, imo.

He had a decent year. I forgot about Hjelle coming in, who I think will get alot of snaps.

Oooo I wasn’t totally wrong! His eligibility hinges on a Pavia court date on February 10th.

That catch at PSU will be included on any highlight reel for IU football’s season. I just hope for the ones that go they get drafted high to good teams.

Not that this is reliable in any way, but I’m seeing Omar being projected anywhere from back of the first round (CBS) to 4th round.
Would be so huge to have him back, but if he’s confident he’ll be picked by round 3 he should go for it

Marsh, Becker, Morris, Preston, and maybe Chandler or Bond take on key roles. That's a stacked WR room.

Omar would be extraordinary, but I'll be much, much more jazzed if Carter Smith and Tyrique Tucker return.

And FWIW, Mel Kiper (I know, I know, but gotta have a baseline)

  • Does not have Omar among his top 13 named WRs,
  • Has Carter Smith as his 12th best OT,
  • Has Tyrique as his 12th best DT

We will be as strong as anyone in the country if we bring those two back, upfront.

And basically were last year... I don't really have any question our OL will better. Lynch, Brunner, Smith, and Evans all a year older... Ajani, etc.

DL will be VERY good. DT will be better... Tucker, Landino, Tulsa transfer a year older, I think our DE spot takes a TINY step back, but still very good, experienced, and deep. JMO-- Wyatt, Kamara, and Daley last year is a silly position group.

Would be really interested to know what he’d run at the combine. He’s quick out of breaks but he doesn’t seem to separate on shear speed. Wondering if he’s 4.6ish, something like that.

We absolutely wipe the floor with Miami if we have one of Wyatt or Daley. Other than the Fletcher TD, every single one of the offensive plays that kept them in the game were because we couldn't get to Beck.

Which actually makes the win even that much more impressive. We really didn't put much pressure on him and still shut them down for the most part. We probably would have had 1 or 2 more interceptions with consistent pressure.

Mostly played coverage, very little sending extra guys, just tried to confuse Beck flooding the zones. Probably thought it would be difficult to get home against their line so why waste extra defenders.  And Beck showed some escapability in the CFP up to that point.

Strategy worked brilliantly in the 1H, they found some counters in the 2H and then it ultimately worked on the last drive. Haines said as much regarding the last drive.

And there was a lot of holding on those plays, as well.
