Ehh let him go to FIU or FAU for a year or two, get some reps and experience, and bring him back when he's ready to ball out at the highest level.

Sounds like it may be Georgia Tech.

I don’t blame him.  Backup or play at GT?  Easy call.  And he can come back like you said.

I thought he would leave all season and was shocked when it sounded as though he was returning.
Alberto would have backed up Hoover all season, not gotten many reps, and would have then sat behind the next experienced transfer, with thousands of yards on tape, the following season.

Who knows, as others have said, perhaps Alberto will be the guy that puts up thousands of yards next season and then ends up back at IU. In any case, best of luck to him.

Am I the only one happy with Bebe, Martin, the dude from B.C etc. etc

Maybe use the cash somewhere else

I retract my statement. I briefly glanced at the headline that a Texas guy wanted to come to IU and incorrectly assumed he was a portal RB from a college in Texas.

I would take him as the hs recruit he is in a second. Hope we land him.

I was trying to convince myself Alberto Mendoza was the next starting QB for IUFB but all the signs were there that's just not how this staff works. I Googled them.

Their m.o. is bringing in an experienced QB. They did it at JMU as well. And I worry about this formula's sustainability. I say this because why would any highly coveted high school QB want to sign with IU knowing they'll not see the field unless there's an injury to the starter? I don't foresee a FR, R-FR, or SO ever starting at the QB position with this staff. I don't think this a bad necessarily but I do know injuries happen.

Yeah I saw that so who is our back up now ? Just checked the list unless this list on ESPN is not accurate Grant Wilson is showing SR    and Bell and the Maverick guys are FR and I only  saw Hoover as far as QB  but we need a good back up I recall one year we went through QB pretty quick

In the modern era there’s always the chance Alberto gets reps elsewhere and comes back

If I had to guess, he'll have to fit a certain mold to do that. But it certainly is a possibility.

I heard he was but that he was like part of the staff due to his injury  so even if he is unsure how he would be since he hasn't played

See I thought I heard  someone say  that this was only going to do this till year 3 so that the younger ones can then move in because they would know the system . I mean you see what can happen to rookie QB's in the NFL when they aren't ready  ( Anthony  Richards ) comes to mind .

Wish nothing but the best for the young man. He’s rep’d the school very well. I still feel like Cig would love to grow his own QB’s but since he’s clearly never conceding to the idea of a rebuilding year, and at his age why would he, it’s gonna take a pretty unusual kid to be good enough to play somewhere and yet willing to possibly spend an extended period of time not playing until they believe he’s the Guy from pretty much the 1st day he steps on the field. That’s a tough needle to thread.
