Yeah, I will be surprised if they go after a QB like they did the last two years. I could be wrong of course. But overall, I think they got their guys and feel comfortable with what they have. Or at least that's what I want to believe. If Mr. Heismandoza enters the draft, which all signs are pointing in that direction, his brother will likely be the starter next season. If it doesn't work out for Alberto then the next man up. Another scenario is Fernando stays another year but highly unlikely. And again, as always, I could be wrong. 

If they go after another QB it's to add some competition and experience, someone like who they currently have on the roster, Grant Wilson. Not sure if that makes sense.

The Sorsby possibility doesn’t do much for me. But DJ Lagway in the portal. THAT has my attention. His situation in Florida has been brutal. But he’s 6’3” 225lbs and a dual threat QB. He was a top 10 recruit out of HS a the #1 dual threat recruit. With Cig and our offense he could be the Mendoza reprise next year.

Lagway? I've seen him play a bunch over the past two years, including twice in person. 

The kid has a big arm, is a flat-out warrior and a team leader, and has been cursed with terrible mechanics and development by that coaching staff.

He's also really thoughtful, upside human being:

That having been said, he's a Texas-raised kid and he may want to be back near family (like A&M).

I’ll be disappointed if we don’t land a top QB in the portal… The momentum is red hot for the program right now coming off Rourke/Mendoza in back to back seasons. Any top guy in the portal has to at least consider IU as a possibility. QB play can make or break a contender, and I’d feel much better going into next year with a proven producer in the mix.

LSU going after Lagway it appears.

Raiola to the portal.  He took a noticeable step up in performance from last year.  Interesting to see where he ends up. 

Not 100% sure the juice is worth the squeeze with him. But 72% completion percentage with 18TD and 6 int as a Sophomore is nothing to sneeze at.  Especially considering how inept the rest of Nebraska is on offense.

To my untrained eye, Raiola seems like the exact type of QB who should be calling Cig and Whitmer.  He's talented, but has all kinds fundamentals and mechanics issues.  I'm almost certain he would be transformed here and sent to the league for a big payday.

However, I'd be surprised if he realized that and would buy into the IUFB system.  He'll probably look for the high bid at some historically big program and assume he'll figure out the development part.  He might figure it out, he might not. 

I don't have anything against him except he Mahomes impersonation stuff is a little odd (I hope he's not trying to tear his ACL right now).

I don't know if there's a budget allocated to them but if there there is, I just don't think IUFB will be in search of a high dollar QB. I say this because there are much more positions to address in order to fit the needs of the team.

…..IMO, if Alberto is passed over by IU and transfers, I see him having a similar, but a better impact than Sorseby

Toughest choice Cignetti has to make.   Or Alberto for that matter.  I’m locked in for portal szn.

One would think.

But I suspect that the decision as to whether we're spending on a high priced portal QB isn't a tough one at all.

Cig, Shanahan, and Whitmer have seen Alberto every day for two years; they already know whether he's the guy. If we spend big on a guy like Leavitt or Raiola there was never a doubt in the staff's mind that Alberto was not the guy.

If Alberto isn't the guy it's because of arm strength. So Alberto would not be a Sorsby, he'd be a clone of Peyton Ramsey.

Idk if he's a/the "good" option, but he'd certainly be the "fun" option.
