Pagoda Posted November 12 Posted November 12 The Penn State game was a big rating TV rating: 6M viewers. That's around the 25th most watched game so far this season. Doing some (very) rough math on our total regular season TV viewership: 2023: ~11M (pre-Cig) 2024: ~20M 2025: ~30M (estimating the last two games) What a difference. The post-season game ratings (including the conference championships) are huge. For example, IU-ND last year was 13.5M viewers. With our postseason picture still TBD, I'll hold off on speculating about that part of the TV ratings. Anyways, fantastic stuff for IUFB and IU. Home Jersey, triple, Banksyrules and 4 others 7 Quote
Lebowski Posted November 12 Author Posted November 12 14 hours ago, RoadRage said: I'm surprised..... I am not. The resume comparison with the Aggies is what it is. IUFB 2 road wins vs CFP ranked schools (10pt and 5pt wins) Opponents (excluding FCS) win-loss record: 46-35 Total bowl eligibility opponents: 5 Aggies 1 road win vs CFP ranked schools (1pt win) Opponents (excluding FCS) win-loss record: 41-42 Total bowl eligibility opponents: 2 Sure the ESECPN FPI SOR shows the Aggies 1 overall and IUFB is ranked 2 but the FPI isn't the only system out there to look at. It's just the system that is shoved down our throats. I personally prefer to go here and look at an aggregate of a lot of rankings/systems. Regardless, it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Both of these teams will likely get a chance to showcase their talents in the 2025 CFP. If the playoff started today, I would venture to say the Aggies have the best draw where they get a bye and will play the winner of Miami v Texas Tech. IUFB plays the winner of Texas v Ole Miss. Soapbox time: What's crazy about A&M is they really haven't played anyone worth poop in the their conference. Same could be said for O$U. But I get it, it's hard to go through a season without a loss and that should be rewarded. It's interesting to see schools get through conference play without playing the top end schools. IUFB went through that last season. I think this is now the norm since the conferences are so big. So we'll see schools getting in the CFP due to favorable conference schedules until that it addressed somehow. Coach Cig talked about it during the B1G Media day. He talked about the support for scheduling 9 conference games, 4 automatic qualifiers (AQ) with play-in games and a regular season game scheduled between B1G v SEC. So AQ play-in games will have 1 v 2 (both are AQ), 3 v 6 (winner is AQ), and 4 v 6 (winner is AQ) during championship week. realTomCrean 1 Quote

DChoosier Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I’d take that bracket every day as I would love to see us play the Ole Miss/Texas winner. A game against the SEC would be great. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

The committee may be waiting (for now) to see what teams are involved and how each one plays. If IU plays and loses to tOSU, I’d expect them to drop at least one spot, perhaps two if the SEC game is closer than the B1G game. I don’t think IU should drop below Bama if both make but lose their respective conference championship games, but I assume that’s likely to happen anyway, which would leave IU at #4 in the final seeding. Yep, It will change after the conference championships as 1 and 2 will be the BT and SEC champs. IU should be 1 if they beat OSU and probably 3 or 4 if we lose but in a close game. If we get smoked by OSU we might lose our bye but will still at least host a game as a 5,6 seed. Raise your hand if you thought we would have these discussions two years ago. Crazy times!!! This ended up being the second most watched game last weekend and viewership peaked at a massive 11M people for the Coop Catch. Most of the CFB world tuned in with the majority probably hoping for an upset. Instead they got an amazing drive and maybe the best catch of the year. I’m glad they saw it. Hovadipo Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I kind of can't believe that, through all the coaching carousel articles I read, neither Shanahan nor Haines ever get mentioned. Cig is the story, he's the CEO, but those two make this program go. They're guys that get picked up in the second wave of the carousel, but it's crazy to me that we read about the Collin Kleins of the world and nothing about either of our guys. Magnanimous Posted November 14 Posted November 14 While I’m not arguing that Ohio State should necessarily be below us, but they are getting way too much credit for how they’re winning (“playing with their food,” as the CFB pundits are putting it). They’ve played no one other than Texas. Their win @Washington is being given way too much weight. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

If they lose one game and O$U loses to Michigan they can fall as low as 4th. Both IUFB and O$U could fall out of the championship game with one loss a piece and both Oregon and Michigan win out. There are still a lot of scenarios to be played out. Quote
