Yes. And dont forget that second-rate philanderer, Herbstreit, and his mut.

He doesn't bother me nearly as much as the other two.  Desmond Howard is wrong and wrong badly VERY frequently but pretends he's smart and never atones for being wrong.  He and Saban both picked Indiana to lose to Illinois and neither has made a peep.  Herbstreit at least said he underestimated Indiana

I’ve got serious issues with Herbie.

2024 IUFB was a great story worthy of celebrating and promoting.  It’s fine to critical of us at OSU and ND, but there is context to those games (those were the best two teams in the country).

But no, Kirk singled us out as undeserving and a problem with the playoff system.  Didn’t hear hardly a peep about Boise, SMU, Clemson, or Tennessee who lost big.  Just this week he still claims we didn’t beat a team with a winning record last year, which is wrong.

We jammed him with the Oregon win and he had to give us credit.

So, I’m not a fan.  He is no friend of ours.  I also think he has quite the ego and the whole bring his dog everywhere to boost his approval rating thing is corny and weak.

His biggest issue is a lot of times he's not necessarily wrong, but comes off as such a giant d-bag that it doesn't matter. His Florida State crusade a few years ago was embarrassing to watch because of how he handled it.

He also sucks out loud on TNF and Al Michaels pretty clearly can't stand him, which is entertaining but gets in the way of an otherwise solid production.

Mendoza notched a few “Heisman moments” the last two games. Cig needs to let him sling it against our remaining opponents and get him to the 35-40 TD range. Bring home the statue!

Ty Simpson could easily have a bad game. But people seem to to love Carson Beck and for the life of me I can’t figure out why. They have beaten two ranked teams at home. And his stats haven’t been stellar at any point

I think the appeal of Carson Beck is 1) he is on a high ranked team and 2) high QBR. But that is because he is clearly asked to do less to carry the offense than either Mendoza or Simpson.

Mendoza

1,423 yards.   17 TD.   2 INT.   QBR 84.6

Simpson

1,678 yards.   16 TD   1 INT.   QBR 81.5

Beck

1,213 yards.    11 TD.  3 INT.  QBR 84.9

Kirk isn’t the only one. I’m sick of the continuing narrative that we didn’t belong last year. Hello, it’s a 12 team playoff and only 3 of the teams looked as though they legitimately were going to win it.
We belonged and to your point Tennessee got killed 42-17 (21-0 in the first quarter) by OSU and I never hear anyone say they didn’t belong. Not to mention that we lost by 10 AT Notre Dame while Georgia lost to ND by 13 at a neutral site!

The positive is that I think the team feeds off the negative comments.

....According to the article above we rank 14th out of 18 BIGTEN stadiums....

I think the more this "train" keeps chuggin down the track at this pace, renovations and expansions on Memorial Stadium will definitely be heating up. There is no reason we couldn't add 5k to 10+k more seats here.

This was in another thread but I'll yap about it here.

IMO, Memorial Stadium has always been knocked because there was no crowd and it's actually a bit underrated and more of a mid-pack B1G stadium.

First off, the north endzone is great.  It incorporates our campus architecture and adds a regal/stately character most college stadiums don't have.  The south endzone wasn't as good, not a great use of space, but it does generally match the rest of stadium and the outside looks very good when the pregame shows come to town.  The east and west stands are steep and curved towards the field, which helps with the atmosphere, and the notched walls at the bottom are a nice touch.  I think it looks pretty good, especially when it's packed on TV.  Outsiders are pretty complimentary of it when they see it.  We've come a long way from what it was in 2008.

Yes, it's not exactly a comfortable place and the press box is way outdated, but that's pretty typical for a CFB stadium used around eight times per year.

Our crowds are coming along.  You can tell when a crowd really wants it, AH is that way, and it's starting to happen to Memorial.

I don't know what the renovations will be -- clearly it's looking like suites/premium seating additions and a new press box, which will impact the east stand and maybe the west.  Probably my biggest question is if they replace the entire east and west stands or just build up behind/on the current ones.  It's sort of a project management challenge with just eight months of offseason and you don't want to lose capacity during the season.  We shall see.
