Feel like we would’ve had a leg up on some decent prospects. I like the team we’ve constructed but feels like the time wait could’ve interfered with potential better players interesting. so, maybe we could have constructed a better team? People paint me as full Debbie Downer. I am definitely not the eternal optimist for no reason, but I try to assess all the situations fairly. Anyway, I'm excited for a new brand of ball above all else. But I do want recruiting swagger and program swagger and ultimately that will only help DeVries accomplish his means if we can get there. Popular Post moyemayhem Posted April 30, 2025 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2025 I think DDV did an admirable job filling the roster with solid players that fit his style this year. I doubt we are elite, but I think we can be a competitive tournament team and hopefully get a positive glimpse of what's to come. I'm hoping with Johnson, Clark, and Adams in place we can start pulling in top tier talent next year that fits DDV system. J34, dwtaylor1055, Ryno6284 and 7 others 10 Quote

I'm optimistic about that. And a coach that's going to get on his players and not let them do silly stuff for games on end. Ryno6284, Hoosierfanyuh, Home Jersey and 4 others 7 Quote

Some people are glass half full, others are glass half empty. It's fine, however, to not know how much liquid is in the glass because it's just too freaking far away to see it. I'm optimistic because we at least have a coach with a plan. The question is, how good is the plan. He seems to know what he's looking for and I think he's looking for guys who want to win and play with an edge. I hope his vision translates. Personally, I'm excited about IU basketball for the first time in quite a while. Hoosierfanyuh and J34 2 Quote
Hoosierfanyuh Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 Maybe Rod will know some unknown gem of a big for our roster haha Quote
go iu bb Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 I like the Rod Clark hire. CDD seems to want to run a system which would result in a really good team if it were to have the type of athletes that SEC teams tend to recruit. In fact, several of the transfer recruits they went after (won and lost) they were competing against SEC teams to land. Bringing in a recruiter from an SEC team, and a good team at that, will only help with the transition to having that type of talent. He might also have the connections to help recruit players from the south from his time at TN. Looks like he could also complement the midwest recruiting. He, of course, has the connection to Sunrise Christian. Whether he is really just a recruiter or also helps with player development we'll see. The articles I've read do give him some credit with player development but that is typical for assistant coaches. BannerVille, J34 and Pagoda 3 Quote

Unexpectedflash Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 Really like the Clark hire. He was the lead recruiter on knecht and Lanier the last two years Quote
8bucks Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 Any idea why he would take a lateral move or is he going to be assistant head coach too? Quote
Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted April 30, 2025 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2025 DeVries is cooking. Just stole an SEC teams top assistant. A sec team that just went to back to back elite 8s. Not even May and DeVries has 3 assistants that are known to get dudes and has a roster of 11 possibly 12. Heck of a job in my opinion. My guess is more money and probably associate head coach title. If Adam’s is getting 400,000 which was more than any assistant on Woodys staff I’m guessing his will be more. Only 32 J34, cybergates, Muskie plays the four and 1 other 3 1 Quote

hoosierbannerd Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 I had hoped with the previous NBA background coach, IU would lead the B1G out of the lumbering style of basketball.. WTH was I thinking?? Hope DDV will do it now! Quote
