IMO, the issue of guys like this (and Sampson, Pitino, Wade, Sean Miller, Self and their ilk) is NOT the specific rule that they broke... it's the fact that they broke the rules to gain an advantage. The fact that these clowns think the rules don't apply to themselves is the disgusting and disqualifying issue for me.

It’s pretty crazy to continue to defend the rules set forth by an organization whose entire model for over a century was ruled to be in violation of anti-trust laws by the highest court in the land.

It's NOT about the rules, per se. It's the fact that regardless of what the rules were at any given time, these guys thumbed their noses at them. That speaks to their character more than anything.

It’s the head coach.  They are just doing what they are told.

If the show cause is over, the NCAA has already decided to let bygones be bygones.  Why shouldn't the fan base?

Haven’t been closely following the staff additions.

Do the recent staff announcements mean there is no role for Jordy or CC?  I’m not one that thinks we need ex-IU guys, just curious if they both are definitely out.

Honor is a virtue, even among thieves.

They are out.  No past staff people will be on DeVries staff is what has been said.

I think it’s a full house cleaning. I read here, I think, that one or both have been offered roles with the Athletic Department.

I don’t have an issue with that direction/decision, as the entire “culture” needed to be flushed, but do feel a little bad for Jordy cutting his playing career a couple years short by choosing to join “Woody’s Folly”.

I believe both Jordy and Calbert were told they would have a job in the athletic department if they wanted it.

Yeah…thumbed their noses at a rule that violates the Sherman Act. I don’t view someone looking to gain a competitive advantage in sports as morally corrupt. To each their own however.

It’s wait and see on this staff for me.  And it’s wait and see on the whole operation.  Nothing has impressed me yet, besides the secrecy.   We don’t appear to be “Winning” yet.  But neither did UL and UK and it mostly worked for them.  Now Louisville is cooking and UK is cooking. Hopefully we can do something similar.

What a shocker

You won't know whether anything is success until you see it on the court

You can have a great off season but if it doesn't translate to on the court it doesn't matter

Just because it's a rule doesn't make it right.

So, total disregard for the rules is the way to go? No rules = anarchy. The point of rules, "right" or not, is to define the parameters of competition and fairness. A rule, good or bad, should apply to ALL participants... there is no "jury nullification"... defying the rules because you don't like them demonstrates bad character... either you're a moral, stand-up guy, or you think that the rules don't apply to you.

Clearly, morality and high character is passé around these parts.
