Guys need to calm down and take a breath!  If this goes any where close to the Cig hiring.which I think it is, the names being thrown around aren't going to be one that is hired!

If we have some secret coach locked up like some think we do, that’s awesome and this is all for nothing.

If not and this search is actually heading towards Brownell and Collins territory, I think a campaign needs to start to change the administration’s opinion on taking a shot on a guy like Wade. He would be a vastly better outcome than some of the candidates were hearing about.

Collins is one name I was thinking of that hasn't been mentioned by the media.

Wade checks nearly every box you could want for a young coach with boatloads of potential. Problem is he's not nice and clean. Me personally? DGAF.....hire the guy you think will win the most and if he's young enough to do it for 25 years then....bonus!

He got in trouble for paying players. That’s a ridiculous thing to hold against a guy at this point, we just had a coach who’s only success over four years can be attributed to being able to pay players.

Bring him on and let him pay all the players he can.

It doesn't matter that what he did is now legal. This issue is that he tried to get away with breaking the rules... then he lied... and still hasn't shown any remorse AFAIK... except maybe he's sorry for having got caught.

Rules are put in place to keep the playing field level. When they change, they change for everybody. What John Wooden did was cheating. What Bill Self, John Calipari, Rick Pitino, Eddie Sutton and others have done was cheating - trying to gain an unfair advantage... I get it that the NCAA is pretty good at selective enforcement, but regardless, at the time Wade did it, paying players was against the rules. He got caught. Sucks to be him, I guess. But it speaks volumes about his character as a man and as a coach.

This is my sentiment too I agree doesn't matter whether it's legal now.  Adam Herbert and Rick Greenspan screwed up. Also entirely different than when we reported on the bumper sticker debacle. I have a family friend who wrote a letter to Adam Herbert telling him not to hire Sampson.

If the NCAA had actually maintained a level playing field it would be different but at that point it was obvious that most of the programs that were succeeding at a high level were blatantly playing by different rules and the NCAA had little interest in stopping it from happening aside from some easy targets.

This issue is more about the lack in of credibility from the NCAA than breaking rules for me.

He's going to end up at Iowa and we're going to hate this guy.

This is possibly very true. But Fran got a lot of good players and had a lot of good teams too. McCollum will have his work cut out to even get to Fran level with Iowas resources. They won’t be Minnesota but Iowa will keep ticking along being formidable.

Looks like so far, we got the relatively "big name guy" after all!

Idk where to put this, but if I were WVU, I'd try to get into the ACC tomorrow.

ACC football is pretty mid, and that is more of a money driver than basketball.  And with Florida State and Clemson considering leaving the ACC in the near future, the football money starts to dry up.

They stated they aren't. Travel expenses for WVU alone would be worth the move. I don't really see the difference between ACC and B12 football? Didn't the ACC get two teams in the CFP and B12 one?
