Winning the B1G that year when Illinois and Michigan both made the final four and Michigan won the title was amazing. That team was not one of his most talented at all. And the B1G was absolutely loaded with talent then. RMK was at the height of his powers then... TadQueasy, NVFalcons1990, Withnail and 2 others 5 Quote

Calbert Cheaney, Damon Bailey, and Jay Edwards. My brother said he’s never seen anyone shoot it the way Jay did. He was at Assembly Hall for his game winner against UM from the top of the key and was at the ‘Watford’ UK game and says the Watford game winner doesn’t even compare to the Edwards game winner. He thought ‘The Hall’ was going to come down that day. I’m really excited for the DDV era. I think next year is going to be a blast and we have a chance to be really freaking good with Tucker. Go Hoosiers!!!! Fun fact. I was a student when Edwards hit that shot. Gave my dad my tickets under the basket where he hit that shot. Time of his life. :) And Jay used to show up at our parties, which unfortunately was probably a bad sign. Stuhoo, jonz44 and NVFalcons1990 3 Quote

Hoosier82 Posted March 22, 2025 Posted March 22, 2025 I went over to the Drake message board and read their thoughts on DeVries. Positive thoughts were that he will quickly build a winner and that he should recruit well. Negative thoughts were that his teams dealt with a lot of injuries and they thought he played to conservative to end games. There were multiple instances where his teams gave up leads in tourney games to ultimately lose. That doesn’t really line up with stat Dolson gave of 65% win percentage in close games. That was supposedly a good stat when looking at good programs. NVFalcons1990 1 Quote

Surely fans wouldn't let 1 or 2 games affect their perception of a coach? *cough* Crean against Syracuse *cough* The stats Dolson gave and Drake fans perceiving him as bad at the end of the games can both be true. It doesn't mean the fans are correct though. An important game like a tournament game will leave a more lasting impression. One can only hope that he's learned from his mistakes. Players aren't the only ones who should constantly be working on improving. #1fanofafrin, lillurk, Hoosier82 and 5 others 8 Quote

Not sure I will ever experience that setting ever again. Loud isn’t descriptive enough, and it was from intros to the end. Lucked into seats right behind the UM bench. My new bride kept asking me who was farting (hilarious), it really did stink. And aside from the game itself I will always be amazed at how the fab dudes treated Fischer. Man, they were harsh to him. If you ever find the time, that’s a classic one to watch…should have hung another banner that year. NVFalcons1990, HoosierHoopster and str8baller 3 Quote
Popular Post Barrel Rick Posted March 23, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 23, 2025 Good evening to all, I assume most of you have been anxiously anticipating my reaction to the hiring of our new coach; Darian DeVries. As you may know, my relationship with Coach Woodson was very strong. He's a great friend of mine. With that being said, I do believe that over the last four years, we witnessed the worst basketball coach in the history of the game.. I love Mike, he's a great man, and his wife makes a frighteningly tasty pot pie; but I can not lie to you all, and that is not what I will do. As for our new coach, DeVries was not my first choice. Archie Miller was, and is the answer. I liked a few candidates.. Andrew Toole from Robert Morris University, Darris Nichols from La Salle University, Brette Tanner from Abilene Christian University, and Doug Gottlieb from the University of Green Bay Phoenix were absolutely scorching at the top of my hot board. The night before the hire was announced, Jeff Rabjohns snuck down the chimney of my Bloomington log cabin home, sh*t in my bed, and I was awoken to his cold hands moisturizing my torso with sugar-free honey. He whispered into the darkness of my bedroom; "Archie's coming home, Ricky.." So to say this hire surprised me, is an unbelievable understatement. Bring back Jordan Geronimo, and my negativity will flee.
