Darian DeVries - New IUBB Head Coach

Back channel flirting for over a month.  The relationship started to bloom early February.  BUT I believe DeVries had intentions of leaving for Iowa at that time.  Don't think Iowa was not aware of Indiana's interest.  He was on the way out regardless.  Baker at WVU was either completely oblivious or in denial.

What people like @Chris007 and @RoadToZion don’t realize is that “Dolson has his guy” meant DeVries some time ago. It’s fun to write fan fiction for 40 days about stuff that was never true, but it’s harmful, especially without names of sources. Personally, I DM’d Chris and he didn’t respond because he didn’t have real names and that’s when I knew it was made up. If you have a real source, attach a name to it. If you can’t, you have something to hide. “I’m trying to protect my sources” -> Go ask a real booster how much they care about sharing their name with what they’ve heard. My guess is he just heard from other people on here who were dreaming / fan girling. People like him make me want to believe, but the fanfiction is never true and it’s not rooted in reality or objectivity .

Leading people to the dumbest possible conclusions / outcomes and setting unrealistic expectations alongside your “anonymous” board posters who want to boost the same narrative hurts what we’re trying to do as a university. It steals the joy from everyone on here when we make an objectively awesome hire like the one we just made. (No one can see how awesome it is because we did a breaking-Brad story on here.and thought if not him, it was someone like Brad). People like Jeff Goodman give it a spark by including names that were never an option because he wants clicks, then this board takes it and runs with it.

If Brad Stevens actually wanted this job, Woody would have stepped down a while ago. There was never a “done deal” with him or anyone else besides DeVries. DeVries was the done deal. There was never a conversation had or a handshake deal with Brad. Never. Also, because it needs to be said: Chris Beard was never a serious candidate because the Knight family hates Beard. Another thing this board doesn’t seem to get.

This was an incredible hire. Incredible. I looked at over 40 “successful” midmajor or former midmajor guys in January and he’s in a select handful that will succeed. I had no idea if we’d hire him and to me, his hire was wishful thinking. We actually poached a guy from a Power 4 school, who quite literally, transformed a 9-23 team and had the team in the tournament without his 2 best players. His 18 years under Altman and McDermott should speak for themselves. He wins no matter who his assistants are (Archie did not) and that’s also huge!

If you actually want insider info, follow IUanon1976, Tyme, or ScottDolson’sBurner. They’re actual insiders. It may not be what you want to hear, (and I know a lot of people on here don’t like them because it isn’t what they want to hear), but it’s real information, not fanfiction. This has been my tedtalk

I watched the press conference video on YouTube. He kind of sounded like an anti-Woodson and never referred ot himself in 3rd person.

hahaha..."If you're interested in Darian Devries, you get on a plane and come see Darian Devries" That quote should've been a warning sign 4 years ago.

When people go on rants like this about Chris007 and RoadToZion it just comes across as a lecture in what and who to believe. Neither of those two said they were getting first hand information from Dolson, or that they are the credible source. Heck, Chris007 stated on many occasions that he might even be getting smokescreen information. It seems like those that don't believe what these guys say or said put more stock into the information than those that were having fun getting all the rumors.

Drop the search stuff.   It’s over.  We have a coach and this thread is about the coach.   Moving forward stuff will be hidden.   IU has its guy and the other stuff is over

Fair. But it’s also true that the thread was shut down too soon. My post clearly has a lot in favor of DeVries and that’s what this thread is about. It’s just incredibly frustrating that people can spread objectively bad information for weeks from “sources”, waive it off as “just reporting what I hear”, and then make everyone upset when we make an incredible hire. DeVries will do great and I hope everyone can see that despite the spilled milk.

It’s a free message board with random posters.   I promise it’s not that deep.  Plus I posted plenty of disclaimers in the thread about the information may or may not come true.    It’s over.   DeVries is the coach and he is going to kill it

I don’t really give a damn about sources that were right or wrong.  DeVries had his introductory press conference and seems like a legit basketball coach.  That should be the excitement right now.  He wants to be here and to lead IU back to glory.  He’s got the mindset to do just that.

For real man - give it up and stop digging regarding Brad. That’s all anyone wants. As I said from the beginning, I know unequivocally that Brad was not interested in the job. But even for those who never believed me, it should be very obvious in light of the totality of what is out here and the way the story has changed that you were either lying or being lied to and believing the wrong people.  I believe it’s the latter because I choose to assume good faith. But it’s one or the other, without question.

You are annoying sorry if the truth hurts.
