I would guess he plays at least 12 minutes since he played 11 last night. I think Queen is better than both Ballo and Reneau off the dribble.

My question goes more to the "two bigs" vs "one big" approach... we saw night and day difference even last night when Reneau was in the game with Ballo...

Of course, the Wizard of Broad Ripple is still trying to figure this coaching thing out.

I think that question is obvious. Yes, he will play them together. He can't not do it if their both healthy

His hands are tied by this roster the GM gave him. He would totally play 4 out if he had the roster. But you have to play your best players together, no way around that.

Would be a nice paper win for the Hoosiers.  Maryland NET 24.   However Maryland is a bubble team just like  IU.   Non con Sos of 327 with 0 road wins.   Pretty big game for both teams

With Maryland beating Illinois on the road this would just be a nice win for the Hoosiers.  Maryland’s win gives them a road win against a projected top 4 seed which solidifies Marylands position in the field.  This could be IUs first win against a team that is a tourney team not on the bubble.  Big 40 mins for IU on Sunday

Watched MD last night for the first time. He’s really good. Reminds me of a more athletic Thomas Bryant.

I think he will give Ballo trouble off the dribble. I think Ballo will be able to body him down low. There is no way Reneau can guard him. He looked very unathletic with that knee brace on.

Saw him play at MVA a few times… clear future pro even in HS. All star potential

Over the past couple of weeks, I said I didn't think Woody would be the coach for this game.  Unless there is a late Friday news drop, I'm wrong.  I admit it.  Moving on.  The Twerps (15-5) (5-4) are coming off an a$$ kicking win on the road at Illinois and will be brimming with confidence.  We're coming off a road loss at NW.  Do we have any confidence?  MD is just 1-4 on the road but they have the two-headed attack with Queen and Reese.  How will our crowd react from the very outset of the game?  If we get off to a good start, it would likely mute any crowd boos and chants.  Lay an egg and it will be much worse than it was for the Illinois whippin'.  Lay another egg and there might only be a couple dozen fans left in SSAH after halftime.  Wouldn't that be a great picture on national TV?  Do I sound depressed?

MD averages nearly 84 ppg with a +18 margin over their opponents.  They shoot 36% on 3s.  They outrebound their opponents an average of 5/gm.  Their opponents average 16 TOs and the Twerps average 8 steals/gm.  They have 5 players averaging double figures - Queen at 15.6 is their scoring leader and averages 8 reb/gm.  Reese 14.4 ppg and 9 reb/gm.  Maybe we can slow one of them down but don't think we can slow both.  If we don't show up to play, this game would have the potential for the opponent to lay another 50 point half on us.

When the roster was put together we looked 8-9 deep as a 4 out unit capable of 40 seamless minutes of basketball. That's what was paid for. Then out came the super slow version of last year's double big bs. Right now our best offense has been Galloway in the pick and roll with Ballo and Goode for the kick out. Rice has been disappointing as a pick and roll pg. He's looked better off the ball as a secondary facilitator shooting the ball or getting down hill. Although it will never happen, I think our most effective line-up would be: Ballo, Goode, Galloway,  Rice and Tucker. Heavy drop coverage from Ballo and less switching on ball sscreens. Until Mgbako becomes engaged on the defensive end or thoroughly outplays Goode at the stretch 4 he can come off the bench. Reneau is an enigma. He's really someone that gives you empty stats, horrific defense at both the 4 and 5 and only has the left going to his right. He holds the ball too long before he decided what to do, but he will give you 15 and 6 a game.

This roster was put together to match the off season statements Woody made. "We need great guard play." "I wanna play 4 out." There are coaches, many coaches that would be  17-3, 18-2 with this group.

This roster did bring in better guards than last year but it wasn't built for 4 out. Reneau was already on the roster and better as a 5 than a 4. MM was also on the roster and better as a 4 than a 3. Yet they decided to pay a bunch of money to bring Ballo in. That sealed the fate that it was mainly going to be 2 bigs all year long instead of 4 out.

They also brought in guards/wings that were better at driving and mid-range shots than 3-pointers. Goode was the only 3-point shooter they brought in.

So I very much disagree that this was a roster built to play 4 out. I do, however, agree that a good coach would have this team playing much better and would have a much better record.

I think this is correct. I made many posts in the offseason about how the minutes don’t work out and Woody would have to get really creative with his lineups to squeeze out 20+ minutes of small ball.

Woody just doesn’t know what he’s doing and the lip service given to going small was an obvious lie the minute they paid top dollar for Ballo and kept Reneau.
