Have any of those you've fired been offered another position not under your supervision immediately after you fired them by your superior?  I think that is a validation that the firing was more personal than professional.

Certainly not.  Please remember though we're only hearing the side from the one who was fired.  I'm not convinced Dolson offered him a job.

I'd think if you ask a hundred fired people you'd hear 100 stories about how they were done wrong and it was just one or two awful people within the organization that did them in.  I know I've had some that have said this

So you are saying Dolson wanted CMW back this last off season? That QB and the mega donors didn't dictate retaining him?

I’m saying that they likely agreed that given a still big buyout and a fourth year that’s pretty much always given unless a coach doesn’t make any tournaments, finishes below .500 overall, or has major disciplinary problems… Woody should get another year.

And after this year those reasons to keep him are mitigated.

Is it possible to agree to the premise of your statement but have a gut feeling keeping him was a much bigger mistake than they thought?

Not getting Dusty May, might be the biggest problem in this plan.

However, if Woody can have a strong year and go out “on top” that would be great for all parties involved.

Very curious what’s going on in the mind of Scott Dolson as to future plans.

I don’t know—I wasn’t there.

But I’m saying that it is likely that Dolson had the same conundrum that Adam Howard had; he was allowed to state his case, his bosses heard him out and decided to go in a different direction than his recommendation, and that he was mature enough to live with his boss’s decision.

A second deck on the east side, upgraded press box, and taking Mellencamp to the bones and rebuilding. Potentially even making that a football-only complex including offices, meeting rooms, etc.

I think Dolson knows where things stand internally, he is just been neutered when it comes to being able to do anything about it.

He won’t be when we make the College Football Playoff.  New donors will arise and he’ll have way more support to fire Coach Woodson.

My hope is after this pathetic season is over that Dolson is allowed to finally get this right. The Cignetti hire should give him all the leverage he needs.

It’s Woody’s last year, win big or lose big.
Let’s hope it’s a great one.

Dolson was neutered last year. Then he grew a pair and fired Allen/hired Cignetti... hopefully they are still growing so he can get rid of The Mediocre One and hire a real coach for the basketball team.

I really don't care about basketball right now. Part of that is because the Football team is rolling, but mostly because of Woodson. We have the talent to win the Big Ten but we will finish 5 or 6th in the conference because of Mediocre Mike. It's sad the guy is a former player but he's doing more right now to burn down last bit of fandom I have. He's worse than all the previous bad hires. My hope is after this pathetic season is over that Dolson is allowed to finally get this right. The Cignetti hire should give him all the leverage he needs.

Agree with a lot, but worst hire title still belongs to Archie

Not sure I agree. Sure CAM was a train wreck, but a lot of folks thought Archie could succeed here. Woodson was 100% a courtesy nepotism hire by Buckner, et al.
