When is the last time we had a ranked football team and a ranked basketball team at the same time? The last time we were ranked in football, Archie Miller was busy sucking the life out of the basketball program. I'm guessing maybe sometime in the early 90's?

My IUFB predictions for 2024

  • A winning season
  • Offensive records will be broken
  • Defense will have more than 30 sacks and at least 20 takeaways
  • Ranked and in the CFP discussion at one point during the season
  • Bowl eligibility earned by November
  • Multiple NFL draft picks

Bill Connelly and Harry Lyles Jr has IUFB in the CFP.

Came close in ‘07. Basketball obviously was top ten and football was high among “others receiving votes” before losing to Penn State

December of '93?  John Paci to Thomas Lewis?  Damon Bailey?

Looks like you're correct. The football team was ranked in December of '93 and basketball was ranked for all of the '93-'94 season.

The good ole days....

Can't stand it. I'm sure there will be people here that argue this is "ok"

I can’t either.

in my opinion NIL caps will never work, due to legal issues and “cheaters will cheat”, but surely when guys get paid (who knows, maybe these 2 didn’t get anything) there should be some sort of agreement/contract  tying them to the school for a certain time period (ie one, two or three year agreements, whatever is negotiated) requiring them to participate/be available for all regular season and bowl games.

It’s crazy that college athletes have far more freedom than pros.

Too many negative vibes for too long coming from Cig.

Hard to see how this wasn't coming, and given our success hard to see how McCulley was buying into the program. He certainly had enough talent to play a major role.

.....It's crazy to think that losing him in years past could have seemed tough or even devastating. It also goes to show you how much of a difference Coach Cignetti and Co. have changed everything we think, thought or knew about the "old IU".   Currently, he was just a piece of a LOADED receiving corps and not the "go to" guy that he once was.

I don't think he really bought in the the new regime...... What happened to all this stuff he was talking about earlier.....? lol

"Indiana University football wide receiver Donaven McCulley told new coach Curt Cignetti to "coach me hard" and that Cignetti's tough love approach was helping him improve as a player."
