I'd say sell Rancik on the Michigan model with him in the Lindeborg role, Sherrell as Morez Johnson, Samet as Mara and Trent as Will Tchetter

Go hard after Jake Hall- he is your shooter and starting 2 guard

PG-Burton/Moody

SG-Hall/Harris

SF-Rancik/Mustaf

PF-Sherrell/Trent

C-Samet

Depth-Karvala/Manhertz

Would still have two schollies for whatever Coach and Carr want

Lots of options with that group.

I really like what I’ve seen from rancik and it seems like he’s a plus defender but I think it’s a stretch to comp him to yaxel (even if it’s just comping the role). Yaxel is such a unique basketball player that very few can emulate.

Any truth to Sherrell being on Louisville campus today?

My quick search had turned up nothing on that. Could be wrong but nothing i have found indicates he is there

Assuming Sherrell is the next add, the moves by DeVries and staff to upgrade the roster positionally in terms of talent and size deserves an A+. Not only impressed but thoroughly shocked. Do think we need to pivot to some shooters. I’m not sold on Mustaf and Harris ability to shoot consistently from the perimeter, and if the plan is to play Sherrell and Samet together, we’re going to need some snipers. Jake Hall would immediately become my #1 priority.

Jake and Aiden would make us Big Ten Contenders maybe NC contenders

Don’t think there’s room for the Colorado guy IF we get Sherrell.

Sisley plays some 4 but bring another guy in who’s okay competing for minutes

WHAT?!? No, take that back, I watched his entire highlight video earlier today, now I'm emotionally invested in him!

Can't wait to see Yigi take on Cluff... would loved to have seen him push that big ugly Canadian dude (Edey) around a bit.

Cluff's eligibility ran out.  He is trying to get an extra year, but a previous case that mirrors his resulted in denial of the extra year.

So question.  We are clearly big spenders this time around.

Do we think this was the plan all along?  Or once the portal opened we realized 14m was not going to cut it for a competitive team, and somebody upped their monetary commitment big time?

It seems like when this thing first started, we weren't going to be spending like this.  Maybe the Estrella loss jump started the money spending?

So maybe JP Estrella saved Indiana basketball?

I don’t see much upside in being fully transparent here. If IU publicly says it spent $20M, it just raises fan expectations and gives opponents more ammo for criticism. Strategically, it’s better to understate the number.

Fact is, not being fully staffed likely explains most of why we assembled the lackluster roster that we did.

An equally plausible explanation is that Devries was the one who assembled it. And he’s not this time.

Which is fine, because he can focus on coaching and doesn’t need to be coach and GM. Outside of a few guys like May, Scheyer and Pitino it is probably better off for most schools that way.
