Since they did not work out and since the new staff does not seem to want them here I am not sure that is a good example.

Ok. How about Kaleb Banks going to Louisiana? Did he work out good enough for you?  Or Love to Arizona?

It’s largely irrelevant whether they worked out anyways, when taking the ability to recruit someone somewhere.

The lack of patience from some “adults” is impressive. It’s still very early in the “offseason”, so early in fact the season hasn’t even concluded.

Yeah if its end of April its one thing, plenty of time.

Using “adults” because some posters are expressing concerns with the early results is childish in and of itself. I don’t see anyone claiming that the sky is falling but it’s 100% reasonable to have concerns with how DD’s first few weeks have unfolded.

Just because one team did it and it worked out for them doesn’t mean it’ll also work out for us too. I’m trying to stay patient but from the outside looking in it doesn’t look like we’re firing on all cylinders right now.

You may think there ain’t a plan but most likely there is right?  Freaking over it now shows what?  Numerous instances of teams signing fast and high ranked kids and not doing well.  There are numerous instances of depending on the portal and not depending on the portal with working and not working.  It’s a crap shoot.  Worrying about it today is a 100% worthless.  You could be happy and have the #1 class and barely make it in the tourney or the #2 class and not make it in the tourney or the #3 class and have your worst team in the last 20 years or the #6 class and miss the tourney because your two best players get hurt or #8 team in the portal rankings and finish dead last in the big ten.  You know?

Really need some positive momentum because it feels like we’re meandering aimlessly right now - three players on the team, no GM, staff isn’t complete, we’re being outbid, his WVU guys (other than his son) don’t seem like they want to follow him. With all the talk about how great our NIL is, we aren’t making any noise at all. It’s still earlier and ultimately we won’t know how we did until the season gets here, but I’ve been pretty underwhelmed by DD’s first few weeks.

Who said IU’s NIL was great?  Tony the Tiger?

No, it’s not really reasonable but feel how you feel.

Woodson pulled two guys off the west coast and a kid out of Arizona.

Can’t be that hard if Woody can do it. I get the family reasons with Dix but there shouldn’t be any excuses for other kids.

You are right when you don’t have a long term recruiting plan for the program you are running it’s isn’t hard.  Didn’t woody just over pay for a bunch of mercenaries that were only here for money and didn’t really produce  results they posters on here wanted?   DeVries seems to me like he actually has a long term plan and isn’t just going to throw out money because he has it.    All those guys committed to IU in Mid April.  Still got loads of time

Jesus…what’s going on down there?

They (Louisville) are a serious bball program that is willing to do whatever it takes to win…now! Past, current and future transgressions are simply a calculated cost of doing business.

Just WIN baby and no one talks about the prostitutes, bags of money, bribery, other sex scandals and all the rest. They know this, so go all in.  6 month reboot and they on! Also, they’ve got the reboot process down to a science since they’ve had to execute so many times.

I get the frustration of missing on some of these names, but like other have said sometimes being patient isn't a bad thing.  You see it all the time in pro sports free agency where some "big" names sign right out of the gate, but it ends up being a team who signed 3 or 4 "lesser" names that have more success....not to mention Coach hasn't been in the position for even, what, 2 weeks yet.  I think everything will be fine, and just lets postpone so much judgement and disdain until at least the middle of April, late April...we will get players

But it wasn't just one team - Michigan didn't have it's core together till Apr 20+, we didn't have our best portal gets to 20+, UK, WVU last year, etc... It's actually seems to be the norm more then the exception that teams finish or get most hits around Apr 20 (at least rebuilds).

I wish it was done - I do - but man I've seen us fudge up the portal since it opened (imho) so I'm being patient and seeing what comes of it.

Depends on the health of the roster. If we are missing two of our best players like WVU last year, I don't think fans will be mad at it.

No one will be happy with a 19-13 record next year, as evidenced by the reaction to this past year’s…. 19-13 record. Fans want to win, win big, and do it now. People don’t have the stomach for a rebuild. Sure, there’s time to land players, But what are we waiting for with the assistant coaches? We’re trying to win recruiting battles against schools running on all cylinders when we have half a staff, and it’s not working out great right now.

He was hired on March 18. As of today, that's been two weeks and three days. Why don't we wait until he's been here a few weeks to judge his first few weeks?

And if IU has the year that WVU just had then no one will be happy this time next year.

....nope. All team have some sort of injury or setback. WV was cruising early on in the season, knocking off some top 5 teams, then a couple injuries to 2 key players (DeVries and Tenner)changed their trajectory dramatically!

.....I found this clip pretty telling from an article in January of this year.

Small’s responsibilities, and frankly, his expectations, rose drastically over the last month. It started with the announcement that Tucker DeVries would be out indefinitely due to injury in early December. More recently, freshman reserve point guard KJ Tenner joined Tucker DeVries on the sidelines after he left in the middle of WVU’s win over Oklahoma State with an injury of his own.

Tucker DeVries and Tenner are arguably WVU’s top-two ballhandlers after Small.
