I want to lock in Burton soon and let that help sell the vision to others. Miss on him and it could get bleak quickly. But none of it matters if the wrong guy is coaching em. We’ve had a top 10 transfer class the last two years with nothing to show for it In Woodson's bonus year we did have a top 10 transfer class. but Woodson was coaching them (allegedly). There's no way DeVries first transfer class was top 10. Period. And TBH, we've got very little to show for the past 30 years, so there's that. The good news is that it's still very early in this portal season. Let's see what happens, and then what DeVries does with it. NVFalcons1990, Hollywood Mike Miranda and bird4par 3 Quote

tyappleg Posted April 8 Posted April 8 So if our first 4 transfers are: Burton Brumbaugh Olsen Estrella What's the temperature on those 4? Athleticism still would be an issue, but would be a significant talent increase at the PG and C position. bird4par 1 Quote
FightFor6 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 3 minutes ago, AZ Hoosier said: I stand corrected. But wow. Just wow. That ranking was propped up based on volume more than anything. The only team with more commits than IU in the top 10 was USC and they ended the year #77 in the KenPom because they were similarly lower quality recruits. If IU can land top 10-15 again this year but do it with 5-6 commits, I'll likely feel a lot better about our prospects. NVFalcons1990 1 Quote

If this is a basketball decision then it’s Houston by a long shot I think part of the reason we are going to pull out of some races is that we will need to overspend on PG more than any other position imo. People will argue a Center but that’s not overpaying when the market is just higher than anticipated. That’s just the market. Spend what we need to to land Burton and then go from there Olsen shouldn’t cost a lot and can be a solid rotational piece. Even a starter and the 4th/5th option maybe. Uspshoosier and BGleas 2 Quote

We did initiate a contact and were told the asking $$ and we immediately hung up, 2. We did initiate a contact and were told the player had zero interest in IU or the B1G and we hung up. 3. An agent, parent or other initiated a contact with us and we hung up for whatever reason. 4. Agent, parent or other hinted/implied an IU contact when none really existed. It's to the agent, parent or other's benefit to say, imply, hint that there's been mutual communication to keep interest/demand in the player at a higher level. Not all reported IU/player contacts are necessarily equal. #1 is my guess 90% of the time. Money talks. NVFalcons1990 1 Quote

More like 1 high end 4 star a 3 star and a bunch of 2 stars. It’s why I’m not worried about portal rankings this year. I want evaluation and fit. Then see how the team looks when the roster is complete. I’m also fine if they want to play 2-3 of the freshmen as bench rotational players. Hollywood Mike Miranda, CSP and skhoosier2 3 Quote

But we have a PG that can get to the rim and cause a defense to rotate. Which should be good for Olsen and Beumbaugh to get open 3’s. I like Brumbaugh from what I’ve read about him. I’ve seen Burton and Estrella play and they translate. Quote
