Maybe when Goliath finally moves on they'll regress all the way to a 3 seed and we'll get to see that one at some point. Isn’t that why Edey came back - to fill in the missing 14 in the run? JF87 Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 What strategy do we take against Purdue? Double Edey and hope Purdue misses their threes or let Edey get 35 and try and limit their shooters? Quote

Likely double off of Morton and maybe Gillis whenever we can, and single him when the double would come from the player on anyone else. It also depends how long Ware can stay out foul trouble. Much more of a need to double when Ware isn't in the game. Quote

Also try to push Edey out one more step so he's not catching it in a comfortable spot. Foul him, but try to limit 3-point plays. Have to rebound better than we have been. Need someone to step up. It just seems they are a bad matchup for us and a lot of other teams. Try to contain Jones too, he seems to go as they go. Quote

A lot of the success that FDU and St. Peters had with Edey was when they pushed him closer to the rim and fronted him. When he catches 5-7 feet from the rim without being fronted it's game over, and he often gets to that spot by screening near the elbow. Chris007 1 Quote

Whoozhers Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Double team Edy and pick off his under pressure outlet pass. Don’t reinvent the wheel. It worked for Northwestern twice with good results. Won one. Lost a close one. GO HOOSIERS! Joe_hoopsier 1 Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Not sure how to stop him...either: 1. Xavier or Sparks get a Flagrant 2...take out their big; 2. Swarm him. IU wins against POTFB in the paint(er). ALASKA HOOSIER and mamasa 1 1 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 I predict embarrassment. I think our guys will fight hard for most of the half only to realize we can’t compete. Curl up, lose by 20-25. All the negative chatter returns. This is what I honestly expect. This is also why I’m ready to move along but realize we as a program are between a rock and a hard place. WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Maybe our staff can watch both Northwestern games to come up with some ideas. Then offer a payday to Boo and Berry to make a BooBerry Spectacular and defeat Purdue on their home court. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Home Jersey 1 Quote
Eagle’s Rug Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Galloway in the pick and roll with Ware. Or Reneau… whoever Edey is guarding. Make him defend the ball screen every possession. Wear him down. Worked with X to TJD and JHS to TJD in years past. Galloway has been really good at turning the corner off ball screens in the last few games. Mbako on the 3 point line on the right side waiting for a kick out if they help down on the Galloway penetration. craigyv88 1 Quote
