This is like telling me you're taking me out to a steak dinner and then when the time comes you take me to sushi. In the moment, I'd probably take the steak. But damn I love sushi. So many different ways it can be great, even though there is a chance it can be awful. So let's have some sushi!

So I think you liked that post but not sure. Steak & Sushi it is

If it is May, I would love love love if Johnell Davis came along with him.  Has one year of eligibility left if he decides to use is and played at Gary West Side.  Checks the boxes of what IU needs in guards.

Same. Dusty #1 - it’s too obvious. The regret if he goes to the Ville or OSU in 10 years, if successful, would be enough to ruin my fandom. IU ADMIN I WANT TO GIVE YOU MY MONEY AND SUPPORT PLEASE HIRE A WINNER

One quick question -

Who, what, or where is "Trilly Discord?"  I know Peegs.  Not a member on his site but used to be when the good stuff was still free!

But Trilly, no clue...

Trilly Donovan is a pseudonym for THE college basketball insider.  Has a twitter (X) account, a website, and a discord.  The discord is his paid premium service.

He's better than Woody.  That's the most obvious statement in the world.  But if you hire Dusty May you absolutely have to guarantee somehow that his first 2 years are a big success.  If that's an insane amount of NIL money to buy him a top 10 roster so be it.  He will not have anywhere near the leash Pearl would have with the fans.  Most would be disappointed and you'd have half the fan base rooting for loses to speed up the firing process before he's coached a single game.  Sucks but it is what it is.  He can succeed but the first 2 years will determine everything.

Everyone wants Pearl.

My dead brother is better than Woodson!

I actually started to wonder if this could be the case. Pearl could be a big smoke screen and using the “dream job” thing helps the screen become more believable to people while they work behind the scenes with someone else. Could have even been IU people trying to leak word about the Dusty May to Ohio State possibility, which would work hand in hand with the Bruce stuff coming to IU as his dream job. Kinda like a “well looks like word is May is going to Ohio State and Bruce said IU would be his dream job so I bet we’re getting Bruce!”.

You don't use Bruce Pearl as a smoke screen for Dusty May. Pearl is a proven P5 head coach, May isn't. That's setting people up for disappointment thinking you're finally going to swing big just to take the easy way out.

There are a couple of weeks left. Maybe these are just feelers to see what fans think.

Yeah that’s a good point

I can't say on that. I was just pointing out you don't use a proven P5 winner as a smoke screen for a mid major gamble, if anything you do the opposite.

I understand Bruce Pearl being the sure fire thing with instant success and I’d love to have him,  but if people don't want Dusty May because of Archie PTSD then I don’t think that’s fair. I know it can appear we’d be going down that road but it’s just hard to compare the two for handfuls of reasons. We can’t assume Dusty will fail because Archie failed, and I personally know people who like to bring up Archie when Dusty May’s name comes up.
In my opinion, Dusty would create that same passion Bruce could because he gets it. Think of what Dusty is able to accomplish at a school like FAU, and consider what he’d be able to do with the resources and brand of an IU. Some may say that point could be said about Archie/Dayton/IU…but Archie wasn’t the type of guy ready to be on IUs stage. Dusty is gonna know what that stage is already and know how to handle it.

How do you know that Dusty will be successful?

Food for thought......Dusty May is 7-2 against P5 competition the last two years, all away from home.

Sounds to me like a P5 coach just not coaching currently at a P5 school.
