A lesser name might be great if it’s McCasland!

I tend to think it ends up being Dusty May.  And while that is an improvement and I’ll be interested, I don’t think he’s can’t miss.

Couple other unheralded names that might do great with Indiana’s budget

For me either McCasland or Dusty would be an absolute, unmitigated, massive win.

A chance to get a very high quality coach and public persona that can thrive in the job for 20+ years.

I have no problem with that and don't disagree, I am conflicted whether I want him to be fired or forced to suffer through the boos the remainder of the season, so I don't lack for wanting him to feel a little of our pain. I just try  to not cloak my desire for it in a call to IU to do something is the guise that it somehow shows weakness or will affect the next hiring.

So not wanting him on the floor or hearing the toxicity from the fans is “blood lust” to have him fired asap, but forced to be humiliated by the student section isn’t? I would argue anyone who wants him to suffer through AH on edge is operating much more in the name of “blood lust” than those wanting to cut the cord to avoid it.

And for the record, he will deserve all the heat he gets.

The last time we had a coaching change, there was no NIL -- or it was in its infancy.

If we can offer $8M or $9M (and I'm just saying that because of the reported offers of $10M to BS) to a candidate, as well as a $5M payroll for his roster -- we won't have to settle for a "lesser name."

If we already have guys like Mark Few backchanneling interest in us because he can't get what he needs at Gonzaga, I think we'll be OK.

Get a great coach for 6-7.  Roll that extra into NIL through easy Money Laundering tactics.

Looks like they are really going to let him take the court tomorrow. Let the boo birds have their day

McCasland is my preferred hire since I don't think we're getting Stevens. I don't know whether Dolson/IU has any interest or if he'd leave Texas but he'd be a great hire.

May could be a great hire, but I don't think it's a given.

Where did I say that? I admit just the opposite, I want him to reap what he has sown for what he has done. Again, I am just freely admitting it and not having a hissy fit and blaming IU ineptitude as cover.

Again, toxic in your mind. The player seem to think otherwise. All that matters is he is gone at years end.
Oh and athletic coaching on every level is for from any other workplace. Being average or even slightly above gets you canned.
The average annual percentage of D-I teams with new head coaches is 14.5 , so 1 in 7, that's 52 new positions every season with near zero fired in season. But go on about IU showing weakness by not satisfying your blood lust.

Well I guess we will get to watch several more 25 point beatdowns and not getting over the hump

Believe Seth Davis was one of the guys who made the claim that Brad Stevens had the "itch" to get back into coaching and mentioned IU by name as a destination. Wonder what changed his mind?

The last sentence in that tweet is the best! Ended up with a lesser candidate, who does a solid job? Seth, put the pipe down brother!

^^ THISSSS ^^

Everybody comparing the current situation to how things worked in the past and completely skipping over the whole NIL thing is wild to me. The Mark Few thing is the perfect example - Gonzaga had the advantage in the past because they had the MUCH better coach with consistent success to show for it. That has gone right out the window in the NIL era and now money talks (openly) -- major advantage for IU.

So are we actually going to hear anything today officially from the school? Doesn't Woodson have a pre game media interview today for tomorrows game? No way he's not asked about the status of his job.

Feel free to correct me, but that pretty clearly sounds like you referring to wanting him canned now as blood lust. And frankly, it’s not incorrect, but wanting him humiliated by the fans is no better in that regard. And worse by some measure.

I don’t disagree, but can you really blame people for being upset at the idea of him coaching for another month? He’s terrible on the floor, does the bare minimum off the court, and makes it abundantly clear where his interests and priorities lay. People are fed up. They want him gone and they don’t want to have to wait, even if it’s pointless in the grand scheme of things. It will feel better doing it today and there’s hardly any downside. Indiana basketball is supposed to be something fans enjoy. They’ve made it impossible.

And remember, 5 of the remaining 8 games are at SSAH... so that's 5 more opportunities for Woodson to face an increasingly more toxic environment each time out... gonna be a bumpy ride.

Nah, no person deserves to be called a POS or told that there’s a special place in hell for them, just because they failed at their job.

Haven’t seen anyone call him a POS here. I’m not saying this in an argumentative way but I think it’s important to get something clear: people don’t have this vitriol because Mike Woodson is bad at his job. They have this contempt for him because it’s become apparent over the past 4 years that he does not respect the job, just wanted the title, and was enabled to obtain it by his good friend and the chair of the IU BOT. Basketball is a main driver for the frustration, yes, and then it’s multiplied by societal factors like perceived corruption, race, and the corresponding legal or political implications / associations of those factors. We live in a very charged time, and the internet is like steroids for that. Yes some people go way too far, particularly on social media, and that’s not acceptable EX: don’t contact someone you don’t know especially if you’re just being negative in any way. Anyone making any kind of threat on Woodson or Quinn’s life - credible or not - should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. However, calling them scumbags on a message board (which is basically just a group chat of the same ~100 guys aged 30-100 lol) or suggesting that an investigative journalist may be able to find a story based on their actions while in highly visible, public roles… is not indicative of the fanbase being toxic. It’s sharing observations and opinions.
