Not anymore.  When he got his 2023 raise (smh) his buyout flipped to the full amount of his contract, no step downs.  We owe him $4.2M this season and $8.4M for the next two seasons no matter when he is let go.  It stinks.  Buyout is payable at $1M per year though, which helps us absorb it over time.

He should have to pay IU.

That raise was so stupid.

Did we ever find out who it was? I always figured it was somebody that worked for Crean because he went silent for a long time after Crean was fired.

I dug into it and figured it out. It was a managers mom. Lol.

Yeah,

The raise was inexplicable/inexcusable but being able to spread it out to “only” a million a year was helpful.

If there is a plan to make a mid-season move that depends on the outcome of specific games, it’s a terrible plan. Which is why I don’t think there is a plan to get rid of him mid-season. If there isn’t enough evidence to get rid of him now for the head honchos, then he’s coaching the rest of the season.

John Wooden was The Wizrd of Westwood.  Woodson is The Buffoon of Bloomington.

The Buffoon of Bloomington always looks befuddled. The sequence at the end of the game, it never looked so obvious. I can’t stand that deer caught in the headlights look that Woody has.

Woodson buyout drops to 50% of remaining salary at March 31st, 2025 essentially reducing buyout from $8.4M to $4.2M, are they waiting on that?

Nope, money isn’t an issue for Indiana. We know that because of buying out Tom Allen.

Have not seen something that pathetic since the Pistons tucked their tails and walked off before the game was over vs. the Bulls in the Eastern Conf Finals.   Truly awful.   Good for Goode on directing them back to the court.  He earned some respect today.

Woody probably thought it was just half time....

A decent high school girls basketball coach could have got better execution at the end of the game.

What did you expect? He wasn't hired because he's a good coach, he was hired because he played here when dinosaurs walked the Earth.

nope... he told Fisch ""I just gotta keep working with them and helping them get over the hump because this was a tough one".
Good lord

I 100% agree with this in a vacuum and personally wouldn’t have brought him back after year 2.

But you can’t bring him back after the last couple weeks. PU is going to be a massacre. Just end it now.

We could be watching BtownBruce or BtownBeard right now.  Instead we have the Buffoon of Bloomington.  I’ve never seen a dumber administration.

Your making me feel old…LOL

His age is one thing but Izzo is several years older than Woody, Rick Barnes is four years older and Pearl is only 2 years younger.  Woodys equation, however,  is older+unqualified=sucks.

And he could agree to accept a lesser total amount in a lump sum vs a million/year over time.

Could happen.  I think the $22M rev share kicking in may be a factor, even with the media rights increasing as we saw the athletic dept making cuts to help fund this rev share.  We shall see.

I think this has come up several times ... and I believe that the latest contract with his raise allows for a $1m/year payout on the buyout... but that it extended the payout for another full year... so the amount due doesn't drop until March 31, 2026...

Either way, he will be incredibly lucky to make it through the current season.
