TheWatShot Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Honestly curious: what needs to happen for Buckner to leave? Will we know by a certain date if he is or isn't running for another term? How does that work, is he elected to his position or appointed?

Some chatter he will retire from the board too.

He didn't even know Indiana such such a problematic hump, no way he can figure out how to get over it in 4 years. Agree wholeheartedly! I think Woodson's got about 45% chance to reach Sweet 16 before he reaches 70.

The tank must start strong in conference play before we go back to play the schools of the deaf and blind. I don't believe that Woodson is the right guy, but I can't root against us. I'll root for IU and hope that I'm wrong about Woodson or that our talent is good enough to overcome his deficiencies. If Woodson loses winnable games or get beats soundly by similar talent, I'll continue to add my voice to the Fire Woodson chorus.
JF87 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 My biggest concern is that the expectations for Woodson's continued employment are so low that we'll have to continue suffering his mediocrity. There seems to be enough IU fans (and donors) that are content with finishing in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten and barely making the NCAA Tournament. Based on our talent, I expect IU to finish at least top 4 in the new 18 team Big Ten; be ranked in the top 12-15 nationally; get no worse than a 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament; and make the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. If Woodson fails to meet these goals, we need a coaching change. Parakeet Jones and choosierred1 2

So glad we bought a team instead of getting dusty!” Again, and this seems to be a difficult concept to understand, but I’m NOT defending Woody but rather stating that we would not be happy with a 2 point home win against Iowa. Not sure why that is debatable/controversial. I’m not sure I agree. Any wins in conference are appreciated.

Woodson will continue to be out-coached. The difference between the other B10 coaches and MW, they are used to working hard and the most mediocre team in the B10 will beat us because they have a better coach, who works much harder than him and will prepare a game plan that will exploit our flaws and this will happen about 4-5 games! Trust me, he’s mediocre Mike for a reason! choosierred1, tkbbn and darB s'tI 3

These guys ponied up several million dollars to augment what the NIL cartels were providing... and they got Woodson the talent... but they cannot be happy to see what he's done with the talent... it just doesn't make sense for them to keep throwing their good money away on an arrogant fool who thinks he's the King of Indiana.

No, it didn't make any sense at all ... but if Buckner was pushing the deal, and offering access (at some level) with the "guarantee" that Woodson could restore the shine to IU if he had talent... I mean, to me, it's a pipe dream and a fool's errand... but you know "WE CAN GET IT DONE THIS TIME"... blah, blah, blah... It sickens me beyond the ability to even try to express it, but then, it ain't my money, so I suppose that it could be worse. :D

Rich people throw away money all the time. Look at the amount of money given to politicians who lose. I bet they would be happy to pony up again as long as it allows them to drink wine with woodson and hear stories from 50 years ago.Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk choosierred1 1
