I'm not a staunch Crean defender...but I do think he gets a bad wrap for how things ended for him in Georgia when looking at his overall career. Not saying he is a great coach, but definitely not a bad one.

He won 400+ games as a Head Coach. At Marquette he won 70% of his games the final 7 years, took them to the tourney 5 times and made a final four. Came to IU and went from walk on's year 1 to the #1 team in the country in year 5. Won multiple big ten championships, was named national and big ten coach of the year, took us to three sweet 16's and is third in all time wins at IU. I remember pulling my hair out with the defense, but his offenses were fun to watch.

Where we have been since him...I'd take a couple big ten titles, fun offenses and sweet 16 runs.

I completely respect Crean for coming to the chitshow when he did.  Like you said, in 5 years he turned it completely around (before portal and NIL).  But he failed to sustain and was let go.  That's fair enough.  We were obviously, hoping the next guy could build on the foundation he set up.  The next guy didn't.  The the now guy isn't doing it either.  Hopefully the next guy can.

A slow Friday before playing no-name state.. Crean, Archie, Woody. Rank them. Go!
1. Crean
2. Archie
3. Woody
Crean
Woodson
Archie.
Woodson will probably fall below miller for me though by the end of this season. I can see him completely destroying the program

That's a fools errand if ever there was one. Might give you a nickel for Crean's ability... not a penny for the others. Indiana basketball needs a real coach. Woodson ain't it. Never was.

I want Woody gone as much as anyone else but he’s not worse than Archie. Missing the tournament this season, with the roster he has will certainly change things though.

I am not confident that this team makes the tourney this year. We would need to see a complete 180. And beating up on the Sam Houston States of the world, in Assembly Hall, doesn’t do much to move the needle.

3 mediocre ‘Mike’s’ if ya ask me. All have strengths and weaknesses but the final results are mediocre at best.

Crean had 3 good seasons, and 2 were really good in 8 or 9 years.

Archie had 1 season that was decent in the Covid season. 3 bad to mediocre ones.

Woody had 1 pretty decent season and 2 very mediocre seasons with better talent than Archie.

NIL changes everything, and if Woody misses the tournament as he is currently projected to do, I’d argue considering talent this is the worst result in the entire 3 coach stretch. Unacceptable and pathetic.

Right now 11 B1G schools projected in and Indiana isn’t one of them.

He will never coach again after this. There was a reason he wasnt even been a thought for anyone else, and sure as hell wont be after his tenure is over here.

No need for him to work again after fleecing IU for 25 million

I will always find it funny that Woodson told us the team was shooting 27-28 threes a game over the summer. It can really only mean one of three things, none being good:

1: he was lying

2: our 3pt defense is so bad that we get up more threes against ourselves than against even mediocre teams

3: he was combining the 3pt attempts of the two teams in the scrimmage to come up with the number

Not sure what other explanation you there could be. All 3 make me laugh in their own way.

Indiana shooting against Indiana's perimeter defense. That would be one ugly game to watch.

I think this is the source of so much issue. Our defense sucks so our offense seems like all-stars. Playing against our own perimeter defense would of course give our “offense” open lucks and thus plenty of the “3-ball”.

How can anyone watch this team play and not come to the conclusion that this is a poorly coached team. It’s just UGLY
You would be amazed. Younger guys on twitter who think making the tourney

We have some dreadful “true fans” on X.  They will learn the hard way that we stink in conference play.
