Popular Post Bankshot Posted November 27, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 27, 2024 I’ve been silent since the end of last season, but here are random thoughts from a 50+ year fan and IU Alum… IMO, it was somewhere between criminal and inconceivable that Mike Woodson was retained (and not fired for dereliction of duty) after last season. Is it still early in the season, with a new group/roster? Yes. Could this team turn it around and get things fixed and play much better. Yes. Do we have realistic reason, based on observed performance, data, and information to believe they will? Sadly, no. I can’t think of one thing Woodson’s teams do well, or have consistently done well. Not. One. There is not one visible, observable thing I can think of that would give ANY indication that this man played for a championship level/hall of fame coach. We have one of the be$t ro$ters money can buy and they look absolutely clueless, uninspired, and pathetic. This team doesn’t even look like an acceptably competitive D1 team (last year’s didn’t either) Seems like a reasonable, rational, unemotional observer would have to conclude that this isn’t working and it isn’t going to. Seems like that same observer would have concluded (or been able to have concluded) this at least a year ago. My conclusions: Mike Woodson would never have been seriously considered, let alone hired, at IU if he had not played here. Woodson never should have made it out of March as Indiana’s basketball coach. Crimson and Cream, thebigweave, theriverpilot and 14 others 15 2

You can truly build whatever team you want. Get the right coach and system in here and I think we can turn it around quickly with the amount of money we can blow on a team. Hopefully dolson has built up a nice list the last two years so we don’t end up with Woodson part 2 when Brad turns us down again. The key word is “system”, and MW doesn’t know or have a system he runs other than toss it inside, recruiting 5 star recruits that won’t commit/decommit or underachieve, or they can’t get over the hump!
spe317 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Basketball gods in a cruel twist of fate throw a lifeline to Coach Woodson a lifeline with an opportunity to offset the loss today with Gonzaga. Good for the team this year but not sure in the long run this is beneficial…

He does, unfortunately said system from the 80s.

It did for pete bell but he could coach. Look at wisconsin so far. Ranked top 15 they were supposed to stink and didn't really buy a team either.Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk
OKHOOSIER Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Now we get Gonzaga lol. And AC was talking about getting a win against “most likely West Virginia” we are legit probably gonna catch 3 Ls in the bahamas. Jeff Flabjohns 1

I don’t want to seem I a wanting us to lose, because I’m not, but it would be another nail in Woodson’s coffin! If this was anyone other top program we wouldn't have to worry about that. But this is IU. Have to keep rooting for losses unfortunately. Best scenario for all would be for Woody and Scott to negotiate a settlement and for Woody to then announce that this is his last season. But his ego is far too big. He's going with a security guard escort out of the building whenever he goes.

Capt. Crimson Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 The IU staff hardly got of their arses in the last 10 mins of the game. Hard to interpret this season as anything other than Mike fleecing the ol' alma mater for one more year. The bridge from old to "new" IU? Uhh... not so much. Woody isn’t a bridge. He’s a pier. At the end of the pier you either fall in the water or turn around and end up where you started. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk rcbowla, cybergates, Leo and 3 others 1 4 1

coonhounds Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Social media test says to me Woodson has lost almost all support. This will get ugly soon. This is why you don't retain someone who unquestionably proved to be not good at coaching. Now we embark on another wasted season and likely the most toxic in iu basketball history. Ten years ago this type of season and the toxicity around the team and high school recruiting would have set us back years. Luckily, the free agent era is upon us and I fully believe we can be instantly better with a good hire. It’s a stupid bright side, but a bright side IMO.
